Position Summary The Performance/Data Analyst III is a senior data scientist responsible for advanced analytics, data integration, modeling, and visualization in support of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) and regional coordination units. This role leads development of predictive and network models, automation of MIS data pipelines, and production of executive‑level performance reports and dashboards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Lead design and execution of advanced analytical solutions, including statistical modeling, predictive modeling, and network analysis to support investigative targeting and operational planning. • Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines that acquire, clean, and merge data from DOJ MIS, FBI, DEA, HSI, ATF, IRS‑CI, USAO, and other partner systems in accordance with DOJ data standards. • Develop and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards and other visual analytics tailored to executive, operational, and congressional reporting requirements. • Produce quarterly and ad‑hoc performance reports on investigative outcomes, asset seizures/forfeitures, and program metrics, including trend and anomaly detection. • Define and refine performance measures, impact metrics, and ROI analyses for HSTF initiatives, working with government stakeholders to align metrics to mission outcomes. • Construct complex queries and scripts in R, Python, and SQL to extract, transform, and model data efficiently. • Conduct MIS data quality audits, identify root causes of data issues, and recommend remediation and automation opportunities. • Document schemas, business rules, and transformation logic; maintain and update data dictionaries to support governance and transparency. • Support operational briefings and leadership meetings with clear, actionable analytics products, visuals, and talking points. • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior data analysts and collaborate closely with government counterparts. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or closely related field (Master’s preferred). • 7+ years of applied data science/analytics experience, including significant work with large, complex datasets. • Strong proficiency in Python and/or R for data manipulation, modeling, and visualization. • Advanced SQL skills and experience building and optimizing ETL/ELT processes. • Demonstrated experience with Tableau (or similar BI tools) for building interactive dashboards and executive reports. • Experience designing and implementing predictive models, classification/regression, clustering, or network analysis. • Active Secret clearance, with ability to obtain TS/SCI as required. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience supporting federal law‑enforcement, homeland security, or intelligence community programs. • Familiarity with DOJ data governance, privacy, and information security policies. • Experience operating in secure environments and handling classified or sensitive law‑enforcement information.
