Title: Controller (CPA Non-Profit) Location: Washington, DC (3 days onsite) Compensation: $160K–$190K + strong benefits package Industry: Nonprofit Benefits: 403(b) plan with employer match following eligibility period Employer-funded HSA contribution Tuition reimbursement program Overview Well-established DC-based nonprofit organization is seeking a Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support executive leadership with financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and strategic financial oversight. Managing a team of 5-6 direct reports (Accounting Manager, 2x Senior Accountant, 2x Staff Accountant, seasonal intern), the incumbent will assist with operational accounting, audit support, financial reporting, and FP&A. Requirements • CPA required • 10+ years of nonprofit controllership leadership experience required • Public accounting foundation required • Experience working out of Non-Profit 25+ million revenue size experience at minimum • Experience managing full-cycle accounting and finance operations required • Strong leadership experience managing accounting teams required • Experience overseeing audits, compliance, and financial reporting required Job Description: • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting • Maintain integrity of the chart of accounts and accounting systems in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards • Design, implement, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls • Lead month-end and year-end close processes and prepare timely financial statements • Manage annual external audit process and coordinate directly with independent auditors • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local filings, including tax and regulatory reporting requirements • Oversee employee benefit plan reporting and Form 5500 compliance • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning processes • Partner with senior leadership to provide financial reporting and operational analysis • Manage banking relationships and monitor organizational liquidity and cash flow • Support grant accounting and ensure compliance with donor and funding requirements • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative team environment Why choose Addison Finance & Accounting? • Benefits & Bonuses: You are eligible for medical, dental, vision insurance benefits, 401K, and monetary bonuses • Permanent Employment: Many of Addison’s Finance & Accounting job openings lead to potential permanent employment • Connections: You connect directly with hiring managers from renowned organizations • Options: You are presented multiple employment options near your home • Professional Development: You are provided hiring process advice, resume revision, and employment term negotiation Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
