Job Overview The Chief Operating Officer is responsible to oversee the company’s day-to-day-operations and efficiency of the business. The COO reports directly to the President/CEO and both work in partnership for the growth and sustainability of the company. The primary goal of the position is to oversee all three major departments to ensure 1) Sales process is efficient and event orders are effectively communicated to Kitchen and Operations 2) Kitchen is implementing best process practices for order quality/consistency, food pricing, food execution, food inventory, and communication with other teams 3) Operations team is implementing procedures that allow for standardization of packing/unpacking, deliveries & pickups, and reliability.
This is an in-person role that requires physically checking in on the teams - this is a "hands on" role.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage and oversee all day-to-day operations at Taste Gourmet (DC Taste & B.Lin Catering brands)
• Manage and perform reviews for heads of Sales/Planning, Kitchen, and Operations. Oversee performance of all three departments against metrics
• Oversee daily operations of the company through effectively delegating tasks to the department managers/directors
• Establish processes that will eliminate event errors (external and internal) and increase more effective communication between teams
• Review monthly financial reports with the controller and President. Use results to plan and adjust operating and sales strategies for managers
• Oversee building and kitchen memberships
• Maintain and oversee vehicle registrations
• Manage all building and operational vendors (trash, Alsco, Super Source, Pest Pros, grease trap, Go Safer, HVAC / hood cleaning, all maintenance contractors)
• Assist in identifying and implementing new policies and procedures as necessary
• Introduce and implement standards as the business continues to grow
Secondary Responsibilities
• Ordering of office & printing supplies
• Keeping track of laptop inventory and key fob distribution
• Security camera checks and reviewing them when needed (both inside and outside)
• Oversee process for insurance renewals and insurance process during accidents
• Check-in on events to monitor success of implemented systems
• Fill-in temporary gaps when needed (i.e. when managers go on PTO or when a position needs to be filled)
• Back-up to all incoming Grasshopper calls
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong communication skills, particularly in translating event operations needs to the Planning and Kitchen teams
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be organized
• Ability to effectively juggle multiple projects at once
• Proficiency in Spanish helpful
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to fulfill on-call needs within the team
• Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office or similar products
• Ability to lift 40 lbs
Experience
• At least four (6) years of catering operations or comparable experience
• At least four (6) years of experience managing staff
Pay: $88,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
