Senior Safety Manager – Construction / Mission Critical Operations Location: Sterling VA Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation & Benefits • Annual Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 • Annual Performance Bonus • Company Vehicle Allowance • Company Gas Card • Full Benefits Package Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager to oversee multiple project safety teams and third-party safety consultants supporting large-scale construction and mission critical projects. This leadership role will be responsible for managing Safety Managers and consultant personnel across multiple active projects while partnering closely with operations leadership, clients, and trade partners to drive a proactive, high-performing safety culture. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, experience managing multiple project teams simultaneously, and an advanced understanding of construction safety practices within high-risk environments such as data centers, industrial, manufacturing, or large commercial construction projects. Key Responsibilities • Provide direct leadership and oversight to project Safety Managers and third-party safety consultants across multiple active projects and business units • Manage staffing levels, consultant assignments, scheduling, and performance expectations based on project needs and operational demands • Conduct regular performance reviews, mentoring, coaching, and career development planning for safety personnel • Lead recruitment, onboarding, retention, and development efforts for internal and contracted safety staff • Evaluate project-wide safety performance, inspection quality, and compliance trends while implementing improvement strategies • Serve as the senior safety liaison between operations leadership, clients, subcontractors, and consultant teams • Conduct executive-level project audits, field observations, and compliance reviews across multiple sites • Lead incident response efforts, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation • Review and develop project-specific safety plans, AHAs/JHAs, training programs, and emergency response procedures • Support preconstruction safety planning and participate in subcontractor preconstruction and coordination meetings • Analyze leading and lagging safety indicators to identify trends and improve organizational safety performance • Ensure compliance with OSHA, client requirements, and company safety standards across all assigned operations • Support development and execution of company-wide safety initiatives, training programs, and operational safety goals • Provide leadership support during high-risk operations including crane activities, excavation, electrical work, confined space entry, and fall protection operations • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, operations teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders Qualifications • 8+ years of construction safety experience with leadership oversight responsibilities • Previous experience managing Safety Managers, consultant teams, or regional safety operations preferred • Strong background supporting mission critical, industrial, manufacturing, or large-scale commercial construction projects • Advanced knowledge of OSHA regulations and high-risk construction activities • OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 510 certification required • CHST, STS-C, ASP, CSP, or equivalent BCSP credential preferred • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field preferred • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills • Ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and priorities simultaneously • Willingness to travel regionally to support active project operations This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced safety leader looking to oversee complex operations, mentor developing safety professionals, and support large-scale construction projects while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
