The role We're looking for an experienced Controller to join our growing team. You'll serve as the financial backbone for our clients — ensuring the integrity of their accounting operations while partnering closely with our FP&A and advisory teams to deliver a truly integrated financial leadership experience. What you'll do Own the full accounting cycle — general ledger, month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements across client engagements Implement AI and automation tools and processes Revenue Recognition Expertise is a must Gov Con Experience a plus Manage and review AP, AR, payroll, and cash management processes Develop, document, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard client assets Oversee and coordinate external audits, reviews, and tax preparation with third-party CPA firms Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting packages to client leadership and stakeholders Partner with our FP&A team to bridge actuals with forecasts and surface meaningful variances Implement and optimize accounting systems and tools — including AI-assisted workflows — to improve close efficiency and data accuracy Coach and mentor junior accounting team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement Support clients through fundraising, due diligence, and strategic finance initiatives as needed What you bring A coaching mindset: you enjoy developing others and building strong processes, not just closing the books the willingness to learn and implement AI and automations The ability to build trusted relationships — technical accuracy alone is not financial leadership 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role; client-facing or advisory experience a strong plus Deep expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Strong experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or similar platforms Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with reporting tools like Fathom HQ, Power BI, or similar a plus Outstanding communication skills — you can translate complex accounting concepts for any audience CPA required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Deep curiosity and a drive to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving financial landscape
