Senior Data Platform Engineer

<p>As part of the Platform tribe, you will help build a self-service, AI-Ready Data Platform. The Data Platform team supports our next big bets: Data, AI, and real-time analytics. We are a team focused on building scalable, reliable infrastructure to enable our global data community.</p> <p><strong>What you’ll do</strong></p> <ul> <li>Build and maintain best-in-class data infrastructure for critical processes.</li> <li>Develop features that strengthen self-service, including for ETL and orchestration.</li> <li>Optimise processes to use compute more efficiently and reduce cost.</li> <li>Automate operations so the platform stays highly available.</li> <li>Contribute to the design and implementation of new services.</li> </ul> <p><strong>You’ll be a strong fit if you</strong></p> <ul> <li>Have experience with infrastructure as code and containerisation (e.g. Terraform, Helm, Docker, Kubernetes).</li> <li>Have used modern query engines (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Trino).</li> <li>Have worked with modern data orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Dagster).</li> <li>Are proficient in at least one of our main languages: Python or Go.</li> <li>Bring a pragmatic, team-first mindset.</li> <li>Are self-motivated, work well independently, and can balance stakeholder needs.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to have&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience building and operating performant API layers.</li> <li>Experience with dbt for transform, test, and documentation workflows.</li> <li>Query optimization at scale.</li> <li>Real-time streaming (e.g. Kafka, Flink, StarRocks, Pinot, Druid, ClickHouse).</li> <li>Experience with systems at petabyte scale.</li> <li>Experience implementing AI-enabled systems (e.g. agentic SRE, AI automation).</li> </ul> <p><strong>About SumUp</strong>&nbsp;</p> <p>We believe in the everyday hero.
