Dice is the leading career destination for tech experts at every stage of their careers. Our client, Satsyil Corporation, is seeking the following. Apply via Dice today! Position Title: UI/UX Designer Location: 1775 Tysons Blvd, McLean, VA (Onsite) Employment Type: Full-Time (W2) Role Overview We are seeking a UI/UX Designer to gather and translate user requirements into intuitive, visually compelling interfaces. You will collaborate closely with product managers and engineers across the full design lifecycle—from concept to polished prototype—on federal data platform engagements. Responsibilities • Collect and evaluate user requirements in partnership with product managers and engineers. • Illustrate design concepts using sitemaps, process flows, and storyboards. • Design graphic user interface elements such as menus, tabs, and widgets. • Build page navigation buttons and search fields. • Create UI mockups and prototypes that clearly demonstrate site functionality and look- and-feel. • Develop original graphic designs to support the product vision. • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders. • Identify and resolve UX issues. • Adjust layouts based on user feedback while adhering to font, color, and image style guidelines. Qualifications Required Skills • Figma • Adobe XD • Sketch • Design Systems • Prototyping • Wireframing (sitemaps, process flows, storyboards) • Responsive / interaction design • Information architecture (content hierarchies, navigation structures) • UX research methods (usability testing, interviews, synthesizing findings into insights) • Visual design fundamentals (typography, color theory, layout, hierarchy) Preferred Skills • Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and Section 508 compliance • U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) — components, design tokens, and accessible patterns • Prior UX work on federal / government digital services • User Research & usability testing with diverse users, including users with disabilities • Webflow • Motion / UI animation and microinteractions • AI-assisted design tools for faster ideation and concept generation • Design-to-development handoff and collaboration with engineers Experience & Certifications Required Years of Experience: 5 Mandatory Certifications: None required Preferred Certifications (a plus, not required): Relevant UX/design or accessibility certifications—e.g., NN/g UX Certification, Google UX Design Certificate, IAAP CPACC/WAS—are viewed favorably. What Sets Top Candidates Apart The strongest candidates distinguish themselves beyond tool proficiency. Use these as differentiators when scoring: • Portfolio that shows process, not just polish — the problem, the design decisions, what was tried and rejected, and why. Beautiful screens alone are not enough. • Demonstrated business or mission impact — case studies that tie design work to measurable outcomes (task completion, error reduction, adoption, time saved), not just visual output. • Research-led approach — evidence of grounding designs in user research and validating with real users rather than assumption. • Versatility and adaptability — a range of project types and the ability to adjust to different constraints, stakeholders, and timelines. • Clear communication — can explain and defend design decisions to engineers, product managers, and non-design stakeholders. • Accessibility as a default — treats inclusive, Section 508 / WCAG-conformant design as a starting point, not an afterthought — especially valuable on federal engagements. • Curiosity about technology and modern practice — including familiarity with current AI- assisted design workflows. Screening Criteria • Portfolio review — must be provided, and should demonstrate design process and case studies, not just final visuals. • Prior UX/UI design experience for federal clients. • Duration of each prior assignment. • ship (required). • Willingness to work onsite / from office.
