Outside Machinists

Seeking experienced Outside Machinists to support repair work on US Naval Vessels in Hampton Roads. Must have 4+ years of experience on ABS and/or Navsea certified vessels. Responsibilities include removing, repairing, overhauling, installing, and aligning main propulsion machinery and auxiliary systems such as pumps, valves, cargo handling gear, and firefighting equipment. Install and repair foundations, control devices, and safety systems, and test machinery during dock and sea trials. Utilize machine tools and precision instruments, and coordinate work across multiple trades based on technical documentation. Install ship machinery, lay out passage holes, and connect auxiliary systems below deck. Applicants must pass background screening and be eligible for a DBIDS Badge. Full-time or contract role, paying $25-$30/hour, with benefits including health and dental insurance. Work schedule typically involves 8-10 hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekend work as needed. Work is in person.
