About The Role The Senior Software Engineer role at Lockheed Martin is a critical position that requires technical leadership and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. This role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems that support analytic missions vital to national security. The successful candidate will work closely with other senior engineers to design scalable, robust, and innovative solutions in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. The position emphasizes agile development methodologies, ensuring rapid iteration and continuous improvement of software products. The engineer will also be responsible for providing guidance on best practices, code reviews, and ensuring quality standards are met through rigorous testing processes including DAT, UAT/SME validation, smoke testing, and system-level testing before deployment. Qualifications Applicants must hold an active Top Secret clearance with polygraph authorization. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs of similar scope, complexity, and nature is required. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred; however, candidates with four (4) additional years of relevant experience (totaling 11 years) on projects with similar software processes may substitute for formal education. Proven expertise in full stack development, including proficiency in JavaScript, React, and MongoDB, is essential. Prior experience in analytic environments and working within production systems is highly desirable. The candidate should have a strong understanding of Linux operating systems, debugging, testing, and designing scalable software solutions. Familiarity with programming languages such as Java and development frameworks pertinent to full stack applications will be advantageous. Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced data analytics solutions supporting critical missions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and translate them into scalable software architectures. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Participate in code reviews, system testing, and validation processes to ensure high-quality deliverables. Develop and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals. Implement agile development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. Ensure software security, reliability, and performance standards are met or exceeded. Support deployment activities and troubleshoot issues in production environments. Stay updated with emerging technology trends and incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
