Description
About the Team
The Product Marketing team shapes how OpenAI brings its research, models, and products to market. We work across Research, Product, Engineering, Sales, Communications, and Marketing to translate technical advances into clear customer value, compelling market narratives, and go-to-market strategies that drive meaningful adoption.
About the Role
We are seeking a senior product marketing leader to shape how OpenAI’s API and model portfolio is brought to businesses around the world. You will lead marketing for our flagship frontier models, specialized models for domains such as cybersecurity and life sciences—including Rosalind—and multimodal capabilities such as voice and image.
Operating at the intersection of Research, Product, and Sales, you will turn technical advances into clear market positions, high-impact launches, and adoption strategies that help businesses understand what is possible and put these capabilities to work.
The ideal candidate combines the technical depth needed to earn the trust of researchers and engineers with exceptional product marketing judgment and enterprise go-to-market experience. This is a highly senior individual contributor role for a hands-on leader who can set portfolio strategy, influence executives, partner closely with Sales, and raise the standard for model marketing across OpenAI.
In this role, you will:
Own the business marketing strategy for OpenAI’s API and model portfolio, spanning flagship frontier models, specialized domain models, and multimodal capabilities.
Define launch architecture, positioning, priority audiences, demonstrations, and sustained adoption plans that extend beyond announcement day.
Build trusted, embedded relationships with Research, Product, and Engineering, developing an early understanding of model capabilities, evaluations, tradeoffs, and technical milestones.
Help shape roadmap decisions, launch readiness, and how technical advances are brought to market.
Translate model capabilities into differentiated business value, priority use cases, audience and industry narratives, and adoption models that help enterprises move from experimentation to scaled deployment.
Partner closely with Sales, Solutions, Customer Success, Partnerships, and regional teams to develop customer-facing narratives, enablement, proof points, and activation plans.
Create feedback loops connecting customer and market needs with Product and Research priorities.
Make complex research, APIs, evaluations, model capabilities, and engineering advances understandable and consequential without losing technical nuance.
Partner with Communications, Safety, Policy, and Legal to ensure technical and product claims are precise, evidence-backed, and responsible.
Align Research, Product, Engineering, Sales, Communications, Developer Marketing, Business Marketing, Creative, and International teams around clear priorities and decisions.
Define and measure success across customer understanding, demand, progression, API usage, and business adoption.
You might thrive in this role if you:
Have 12+ years of product marketing experience, including senior ownership of complex B2B, enterprise, developer, platform, cloud, or AI products and portfolios.
Can understand frontier AI systems, model families, multimodal capabilities, evaluations, tradeoffs, APIs, and research or engineering advances deeply enough to communicate about them accurately.
Have successfully developed positioning, audience strategies, launch plans, demonstrations, and sustained marketing programs across a portfolio of technical products or capabilities.
Bring deep experience partnering with Sales and customer-facing teams to build go-to-market strategies, enablement, use cases, and adoption programs that move businesses from interest to meaningful usage.
Have exceptional strategic and editorial judgment, with a record of translating complex technical capabilities into clear, differentiated, and credible business narratives without overclaiming.
Can align senior leaders across Research, Product, Engineering, Sales, Communications, and Marketing when facts are incomplete, markets are moving quickly, or viewpoints diverge.
Use customer insights, market signals, adoption data, and qualitative feedback to prioritize work and measure impact.
Move comfortably between long-range strategy and hands-on execution.
Have experience launching and driving adoption of frontier models, AI platforms, APIs, developer tools, or other rapidly evolving technical products.
Have marketed specialized technologies to industries or functions such as cybersecurity, life sciences, or other regulated domains.
Have brought multimodal capabilities—such as voice, image, video, or real-time interaction—to business or developer audiences.
Have experience navigating high-stakes technical claims and partnering across Safety, Policy, Legal, Security, or responsible-innovation teams.
Use AI tools thoughtfully across research, positioning, prototyping, campaign development, and measurement.
