Description
Founding Product Designer (Contract → Growth Role)
Dine with Toro, Inc. · Miami, FL (Remote-friendly) Contract · Part-time · Product Design / UX
About us
We operate two products in the restaurant-technology space. OpenMenu, founded in 2009, is a structured menu-data and insights platform with one of the largest menu databases in the industry and a partnership as a USDA National Strategic Partner. TORO is a food-discovery and review app built on top of that data, with a live, shipped technology stack (Flutter mobile app, Node.js/TypeScript backend, AI-assisted dish-level data enrichment).
We're an early-stage, founder-led team. This is a ground-floor role with direct access to the founders and real influence over the product.
The role
We're looking for a Founding Product Designer to own the design and user experience of the Toro MVP end to end. You'll be the design voice on a small team, working directly with the founders to take the product from its current state to a validated, development-ready experience.
What you'll own
• Product architecture and information architecture for the Toro MVP
• UX and UI for core flows: discovery feed, map-based discovery, restaurant and dish detail pages, the review and contribution flow, and onboarding
• A scalable design system and component library the dev team can build on
• User research and validation: interviews, usability testing, and synthesis to refine product direction before build
• Development-ready Figma prototypes and documentation
Engagement structure & compensation
We believe in being transparent about compensation rather than burying it.
This begins as a defined, milestone-based engagement with small cash compensation across an initial scoped phase, plus an equity stake with a clear, written vesting schedule. We'll walk you through the full structure, including the cap table, in conversation.
Beyond the initial engagement, our intent is for this to grow. If the work is strong and there's mutual interest, we want this to evolve into a larger, ongoing role with expanded responsibility and compensation that grows alongside the company as we raise and generate revenue. We won't overpromise a salary we can't yet pay, but we will be honest about the path and what it depends on.
Who you are
• An experienced product designer comfortable owning UX and UI end to end
• Genuinely excited about food, restaurants, and consumer product
• Able to work effectively on a small team with high autonomy
• Realistic about early-stage trade-offs: this is best suited to someone with existing income or runway who is motivated by ownership and upside, not someone who needs a full salary on day one
How to apply
Apply through LinkedIn or message us directly. We're happy to share the full product picture, the technology, and the compensation structure with serious candidates.
