Mid-Level Architectural Designer / Project Architect

Senga Architects Inc. is seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Architectural Designer / Project Architect to join our Chicago-based team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of professional architectural experience and be comfortable contributing to projects from early design and documentation through permitting, bidding, and construction administration. This role is well-suited for a designer or emerging project architect who is highly organized, technically capable, collaborative, and interested in working on a variety of public and private sector projects. Architectural licensure is a plus, but not required. Position Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Assist with the development of architectural design concepts, drawings, and presentation materials. Produce and coordinate construction documents, permit drawings, technical details, and specifications. Coordinate with consultants, engineers, contractors, clients, and reviewing agencies. Review and apply applicable building codes, zoning requirements, accessibility standards, and permitting requirements. Support project managers and principals through all phases of design and documentation. Participate in consultant coordination meetings, client meetings, site visits, and project reviews. Assist with construction administration tasks, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field reports, punch lists, and meeting documentation. Help maintain project schedules, deliverables, and drawing quality standards. Contribute to a collaborative studio environment with a strong attention to detail and professional communication. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of professional experience in an architectural office. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or related field. Architectural licensure preferred, but not required. Strong technical drafting and construction documentation skills. Proficiency in Revit required. Working knowledge of Chicago zoning requirements, building codes, accessibility standards, and permitting processes strongly preferred. Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, clients, and reviewing agencies. Experience preparing permit sets, construction documents, and technical details. Experience with Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and other project coordination tools is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
