Descrizione
CMT is looking for a Engineering Manager to help us change the world. CMT has helped protect over 65 million drivers and prevent over 126,000 crashes worldwide. We build AI to solve some of the most difficult challenges in mobility — understanding and reducing risk, detecting crashes, and getting people life-saving help. The problems are hard. The impact is real. No matter your role, your work will matter at CMT. We're indeed looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Trip Processing and Sensor Integration (TPSI) team, the backend team responsible for ingesting, assembling, and processing the high-volume sensor data that powers CMT's core telematics platform. The team owns the full trip pipeline: from raw sensor data uploaded by SDKs on hundreds of millions of devices, through trip stitching and reprocessing, to the data products consumed downstream by scoring, crash detection, and analytics teams.
Working closely with technical leaders across CMT, you will drive the reliability, scalability, and evolution of a critical backend system built on Python, AWS (ECS, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis, Lambda), and internal data pipeline tooling. You will manage a team of experienced backend engineers, set technical direction in partnership with tech leads, and partner with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-impact platform improvements.
A great fit for this role brings a strong backend systems background, comfort navigating distributed and event-driven architectures, and a track record of leading teams through technically complex, high-stakes work. Being well-organized, able to prioritize and delegate, and genuinely curious about the domain are equally important.
Responsibilities:
Lead development of high leverage projects and capabilities of the Engineering team
Manage and provide team leadership to your assigned Engineering function. This includes providing support on tactical team items and providing guidance to grow individual team members within their own careers
Identify, recruit and maintain a top talent team, managing 2+ direct reports
Partner with architects and business leaders to design and build robust services using storage layer, streaming and batch data
Take ownership for the overall planning, execution, and release of complex technical projects
Support the VP, Engineering and drive the technical vision and strategy
Work closely with product management and UX teams to ensure we are building the best possible products
Review code to ensure it is efficient, well-tested, scalable, documented and optimal
Setup monitoring and testing of your APIs and services to better understand real time health of your products
Represent a concept, the business area, and the company both in internal and external meetings
Provide required assistance and troubleshoot production. As needed, potentially subject to on call responsibilities
Follow Companies development and operational standards and processes
Complete any additional tasks as they arise
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Engineering preferred
7+ years of relevant working experience in Software Engineering
1+ years of management experience preferred
A natural penchant for (and demonstrated success in) mentoring and supporting peers and engineering
teams
Scrappy, "impact-focused" attitude
Strong understanding and appreciation for the agile process and methodology
Expertise in finding, defining and facilitating the creation and sharing of both low level and high level architecture
Extensive knowledge of mobile engineering, both from a software and a tooling perspective
Experience leading company-encompassing technical projects
A strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and their real-world use cases
A passion for using data to make our streets and highways safer
Nice to Haves:
Experience with Python-based backend systems and AWS services (ECS, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis, Lambda)
Familiarity with high-throughput, event-driven data pipelines or stream processing architectures
Background in managing teams working on platform or infrastructure-level backend services (as opposed to product application development)
Experience with distributed systems, data ingestion pipelines, or sensor/telemetry data processing
Comfort working in a domain where the technical landscape is unfamiliar at first with strong learning agility and ability to build credibility through process and people management while ramping up technically
Prior experience managing engineers across mixed seniority levels, including working through informal technical leads
Compensation and Benefits:
Fair and competitive salary based on skills and experience, and annual performance bonus
Equity may be awarded in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
