About The Role As a Staff AI/ML Engineer within the Embodied AI Data Foundations organization at General Motors, you will play a pivotal role in advancing autonomous vehicle capabilities. You will focus on scaling and optimizing data-driven models that underpin the development of safe, reliable, and scalable autonomous driving systems. Your expertise will help leverage vast datasets—both real and synthetic—to improve the performance of AV foundation models through innovative machine learning solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will translate research into deployable solutions, supporting GM’s mission to lead in autonomous driving technology and redefine mobility for the future. Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field Experience working with large-scale foundation models and alignment methods in real-world systems Proficiency in Python and PyTorch Experience building and scaling model training pipelines for efficient iteration Strong data processing skills using tools such as NumPy, Pandas, and Apache Spark Experience deploying machine learning models into production environments Ability to deliver applied ML solutions under real-world constraints and timelines Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration Experience in robotics or autonomous driving systems is preferred Responsibilities Design and implement machine learning solutions aligned with GM’s autonomous driving objectives Apply techniques such as unsupervised pre-training, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and foundation modeling to solve problems in object detection, tracking, classification, and trajectory generation Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy models and algorithms into onboard driving systems Contribute to applied research efforts and stay current with advancements in ML frameworks and methods Build and optimize infrastructure, pipelines, and tooling to facilitate rapid model iteration Lead technical execution from prototyping through production deployment, documenting best practices Mentor and support engineers through technical collaboration and code reviews Benefits Comprehensive health and wellbeing programs including medical, dental, and vision coverage Retirement savings plan and flexible spending accounts Paid vacation and holidays Tuition assistance programs and employee development initiatives GM vehicle discounts and access to a company vehicle evaluation program Potential relocation benefits and accommodations for eligible candidates Access to employee assistance programs and wellness resources Equal Opportunity General Motors is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
