Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet.</p> <p><strong>About the Subscriptions Core Services Team</strong></p> <p>The Subscriptions Core Services team builds the high-scale, asynchronous engines at the heart of Stripe's recurring billing ecosystem. We manage hundreds of millions of complex financial relationships for global enterprises and provide the foundational infrastructure for Stripe Billing—a business growing 73% year-over-year.</p> <p>We work on hard technical problems in distributed systems where the work is fast-moving and the impact is direct. As AI compounds in importance, we're strategically re-architecting our foundational primitives for Enterprise and Agent Readiness—building for the next order of magnitude in scale and velocity.</p> <p><strong>What you'll do</strong></p> <p>As the Engineering Manager for Subscriptions Core Services, you'll lead a team of high-performing engineers building platforms that other Stripe engineering teams rely on to ship products. You'll tackle some of the most complex distributed systems and data consistency challenges in fintech.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead engineering and design processes, and coach, mentor, and grow your team as they build innovative solutions.</li> <li>Collaborate with stakeholders across product, design, infrastructure, and operations to drive alignment on projects and priorities.</li> <li>Own problems end-to-end—managing complex systems, processes, and technologies while continuously improving efficiency and reliability. You'll steward technical risks around massive traffic spikes, data consistency in distributed systems, and system observability.</li> <li>Uphold high engineering standards, ensure codebase consistency, and champion best practices across your team.</li> <li>Partner with Stripe's recruiting team to attract top engineering talent and build a diverse, high-performing team.</li> <li>Support your engineers' career growth by creating tailored development opportunities aligned to their goals.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Who you are</strong></p> <p>We're looking for a technical leader who is passionate about building high-reliability platforms and thrives on the challenge of scaling systems to support global commerce.</p> <p><strong>Minimum Requirements</strong></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of experience managing and growing engineering teams.</li> <li>Proven track record leading a team of 5+ software engineers focused on building and shipping products at scale.</li> <li>Ability to empathize with users and advocate for exceptional user experiences.</li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills, with a history of creatively tackling complex technical challenges.</li> <li>Experience thriving in cross-functional environments, with rigorous thinking and effective decision-making.</li> <li>Comfort operating in ambiguity and executing across multiple high-impact workstreams simultaneously.</li> <li>Commitment to fostering a supportive, feedback-driven, and high-expectations work environment.</li> <li>Technical depth to engage meaningfully with engineers on architecture and system design.</li> <li>An entrepreneurial mindset—you take ownership, drive initiatives forward, and don't wait to be told what to do.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience in billing, payments, or financial automation.</li> <li>Track record leading significant architectural migrations or system rewrites in a high-growth environment.</li> <li>Background in performance engineering or distributed systems.</li> </ul>
