About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Java Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic Investment Experience Technology team at USAA. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and developing high-impact solutions for our new investment services platform. Working within a startup-minded environment, you will collaborate with a talented team to deliver scalable, high-quality software that enhances our digital investment offerings. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to provide differentiated, digital-first experiences to our members and financial advisors, empowering them with seamless, intelligent, and scalable tools. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a modern tech stack—including Go, Java, APIs, OpenShift, and other USAA technologies—while being part of a mission-driven organization committed to innovation and excellence. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, with at least four years of software development expertise demonstrating a deep understanding of relevant technologies. Candidates should have two or more years of experience delivering solutions across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including leading code and design reviews. A strong foundational knowledge of Java, along with familiarity with other programming languages such as Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have a basic understanding of cloud technologies and tools, along with experience troubleshooting production issues and articulating complex technical challenges. Certifications from recognized coding bootcamps or training programs such as CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT, or eFIT are also considered valuable. Candidates with military experience, either through service or as a military spouse or domestic partner, will be given preference. Responsibilities Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions aligned with project requirements and industry standards. Investigate and resolve complex application and system issues, including troubleshooting production problems to ensure system stability and performance. Conduct comprehensive systems analysis to identify areas for operational improvement and recommend policy or procedural changes. Prepare and install complex solutions by defining system specifications, standards, and programming requirements. Follow the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards. Participate in design reviews, learn key system design principles, and contribute to architectural decisions. Mentor junior engineers and peer engineers, review their code, and foster a collaborative development environment. Ensure compliance with risk management, security policies, and regulatory requirements associated with business activities.
