Description
We are looking for dedicated and motivated active-duty military veterans to join our team for a Military SkillBridge Internship. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills gained through military service in the fast-paced world of Commercial banking and Credit Analysis. This position is right for you if you have 3-5 years of active duty military leadership experience with a strong preference for combat arms and a passion to start a career in finance and commercial banking.
We offer a full time Military SkillBridge Internship to take you from military service to the finance industry. Our program identifies veterans who have a desire to cut their chops in finance, arms them with an industry-leading financial modeling certification, and places them in finance roles with screened and qualified firms looking for transitioned veterans.
Our certified financial modeling program gives you the skills expected of those entering the financial world on day 1:
Model the three financial statements; Format and color code cells to industry standard; Increase your operating speed in Excel
After passing the financial modeling certification, you will start an internship with a leading reginal commercial bank as a Credit Analyst in training. A commercial banking credit analyst's role involves analyzing financial data, assessing risk, assigning credit scores, preparing reports, and communicating findings to make informed lending decisions that balance the bank's profitability and risk exposure.
Key Responsibilities Of a Credit Analyst
• Financial Analysis: Credit analysts evaluate the financial health of businesses by analyzing their financial statements, cash flow, and other relevant data. They assess factors like revenue trends, profit margins, debt levels, and liquidity to determine the borrower's ability to repay loans.
• Risk Assessment: These analysts assess the risk associated with lending to a particular borrower. They consider industry trends, market conditions, and the borrower's credit history to determine the likelihood of repayment. By identifying potential risks, they help the bank make informed lending decisions.
• Credit Scoring: Credit analysts use various scoring models to quantify the creditworthiness of applicants. They assign credit scores based on factors such as payment history, credit utilization, and length of credit history. These scores assist in standardizing the evaluation process.
• Report Preparation: Credit analysts compile their findings into detailed reports that outline their assessment of the applicant's creditworthiness. These reports often include financial ratios, risk analysis, and recommendations for loan terms or credit limits. These reports help senior decision-makers in the bank approve or decline loan applications.
• Communication: Effective communication is crucial in this role. Credit analysts interact with borrowers to gather additional information, clarify financial details, and discuss potential concerns. They also collaborate with colleagues, such as loan officers and underwriters, to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of each application.
The Ideal Candidate Profile Looks Like
• This position is right for you if you have 3-5 years of active duty military leadership experience (preference for combat arms, but not required) and a passion to start a career in finance and commercial banking.
• Honorable service and exemplary service evaluations
• Desire for leadership opportunities in the finance world after you prove your ability to "run through walls" in the short term
• Willing to virtually attend a no-cost financial modeling certification program and test prior to transition.
