Job Summary: The Senior Plumbing Designer will lead Revit production, drafting coordination, and construction documents for plumbing and fire protection systems. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects in a variety of market sectors, such as healthcare, science & technology, K-12, higher education, and commercial projects. This position is offered in a hybrid work environment, with a combination of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility. Duties and Responsibilities: • Lead Revit production and preparation of plumbing and fire protection construction documents for multiple projects. • Produce complex floor plans, riser diagrams, schedules, details, and equipment layouts for new and renovation projects. • Work independently with minimal oversight and serve as a technical resource for junior staff. • Review drawings and models prepared by junior staff for accuracy, completeness, and company standards. • Coordinate Revit models with mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines. • Discuss design during architect/client design review meetings and coordinate design development. • Lead clash detection and resolution coordination issues during design development. • Manage drawing deliverables, deadlines, and production priorities for assigned projects. • Prepare design calculations and selection of equipment for building plumbing systems. • Write and edit plumbing and fire protection specifications, engineering reports, and other technical design documentation. • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards and apply requirements to project designs. • Support construction administration through submittal reviews, RFIs, punch walks, field revisions, and as-built updates. Operational Responsibilities • Mentor junior staff and contribute to internal standards, training, and quality control procedures. • Support proposals, bid site visits, and business development efforts as needed. Qualifications and Experience: • You have a minimum of 10+ years of plumbing/fire protection design experience • LEED certification/experience is a plus, CPD is preferred • Experience with laboratories/medical facilities design is preferred • Must have working knowledge of the ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, and NEC; with a preference for knowledge of the IBC, IMC, IECC, and IPC requirements. Skills/Abilities: • Proficient in Bluebeam Revu, Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office • Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines • Excellent work ethic and attitude • Good communication and time management skills • Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work Location: Bethesda, MD Compensation & Benefits: The expected base salary range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
