About Our Client: Established in 2004, the organization is a Massachusetts-based consulting firm focused on designing, implementing, and evaluating public health programs for government partners at local, regional, and state levels. The organization often works as an extension of its clients'' staff through multi-year, multi-project engagements. 2. About the Opportunity: The Junior Engineer, AI role involves designing and building AI-powered tools to enhance public health capabilities. Reporting to the AI Committee Lead, this hands-on position develops practical AI solutions that improve operational efficiency and client service by leveraging emerging AI technologies across multiple cloud platforms. 3. Responsibilities: • Build and deploy AI applications and automation tools on platforms including Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure, and Anthropic/OpenAI APIs. • Design and develop client-facing AI applications, such as chatbots, supporting public health programs and government operations. • Create tools for data collection, aggregation, and analysis to replace manual processes with automation. • Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines for intelligent internal tools. • Integrate large language models, AI agents, and new frameworks to address operational and public health challenges. • Develop lightweight internal apps and dashboards using AppScript or similar tools. • Collaborate with the AI Committee Lead to translate public health needs into technical AI solutions. • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. • Work with teams to identify and prioritize impactful AI opportunities. • Present updates and recommendations to leadership and project teams. • Research new AI models and platforms to select appropriate tools. • Establish testing and quality assurance processes to ensure AI system reliability. • Monitor and optimize AI model performance, cost, and reliability. • Maintain documentation and best practices for AI tools. 4. Requirements: • Bachelor''s degree and at least one year of relevant experience; recent graduates encouraged to apply. • Experience (internship, coursework, or professional) in AI/ML application development or related software engineering. • Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages. • Experience designing and implementing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems. • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, or Azure). • Familiarity with vector databases and cloud-native vector search solutions. • Experience with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Gemini. • Knowledge of Google AppScript or similar automation tools. • Experience testing LLM outputs for accuracy and reliability. • Strong communication skills for non-technical audiences. • Ability to work independently and in a team within a remote consulting environment. • Alignment with the organization’s shared values. Preferred: • Experience with frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex. • Knowledge of MLOps tools and practices (e.g., Docker). • Ability to write production-level SQL and use data warehousing solutions (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake). • Experience with data privacy tools such as Google DLP. • Interest or experience in public health, healthcare, or government sectors. • Experience connecting public health and technology projects. • Optimistic, solution-focused mindset. • Ability to concisely summarize technical ideas. 5. Pay Range and Compensation Package: • Salary range: $70,720 - $83,200 annually. • Compensation includes paid leave totaling over six weeks, health, dental, and vision insurance with substantial employer coverage, health and dependent care FSAs, 401(k) plan with employer match, employer-paid disability insurance, a technology stipend, and professional development opportunities. 6.
