Sr Principal Applied AI Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Sr Principal Applied AI Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a technology-driven environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $178,875 – $320,650 annually Responsibilities Define and lead technical strategy for multimodal AI capabilities Drive architecture and delivery of intelligent AI systems Build and evolve AI applications for construction data Collaborate with Product, UX, Engineering, and stakeholders to identify workflows Shape design of agentic systems for trusted and governed actions Lead development of evaluation harnesses for AI systems Help define behavior of AI systems in construction contexts Drive technical direction for reusable AI services and platforms Mentor engineers and raise technical standards Influence roadmap through effective partnership with product leadership Represent Construction in broader the company AI platform discussions Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience At least 8 years of industry experience in software engineering and AI/ML systems Proven track record of building and shipping AI or ML systems in the construction technology sector Strong experience in natural language understanding or LLM applications and computer vision Strong software engineering and systems design fundamentals Demonstrated success collaborating with product teams to define and ship impactful capabilities Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical direction Benefits Health and financial benefits Time away benefits Everyday wellness support Comprehensive benefits package Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
