Description
Variant Security is securing the world's critical fleets for the AI era. Nearly every device runs identical software, so a single exploit can cascade across an entire fleet, and AI has made finding that exploit cheaper than ever. Variant breaks that pattern, so compromising one device gives an attacker nothing against the rest. AI made exploits cheap. We make them useless.
We're building our engineering team in Bochum. As a working student you're part of that team from day one, doing real work on the product, not intern busywork, with room to go deep on compilers and binary security if that's your thing.
Tasks
We have more tasks than hands. Tell us where you'd start.
- Build internal tooling and automation, mostly in Python and modern C++
- Extend our testing and CI infrastructure around the compiler
- Evaluate hardened binaries for correctness, performance, and security impact
- Integrate our technology into build and deployment workflows
- Go deeper into compiler internals, if you bring the background
Requirements
You're deep into a Bachelor's or working on a Master's in computer science, IT security, or a related field.
- Solid programming skills, ideally in Python or modern C++
- Curiosity for binaries, compilers, and how systems break
- Self-organized and reliable, you follow through and ask sharp questions
CTFs, reverse engineering, systems security, or related coursework earn bonus points.
Benefits
- Get paid to work on compilers, binaries, and exploits while you study
- Learn directly from a founding team with deep security, compiler, and space-systems pedigree (top-tier security research, DARPA, SpaceX)
- Your code ends up protecting real fleets across aerospace and defense
- Fair pay, and hours that flex around lectures and exam season
- A real shot at a full-time role after graduation
We're looking for builders, hackers, and systems thinkers. If this sounds like you, apply.
