Description
For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer Backend (continuous Integration) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will lead technical work focused on cloud-enabled scalability, reliability, and delivery excellence. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a regulated financial services environment.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $200,000 – $275,000 annually
Responsibilities
Own the design, scalability, and reliability of build and pipelines across multiple services
Ensure fast feedback cycles for developers by optimizing build times and test coverage
Implement monitoring and incident response processes for CI systems to minimize downtime
Collaborate with engineering teams for seamless integrations and deployments
Identify developer pain points and improve productivity through tooling and automation
Promote CI/CD practices to elevate engineering efficiency throughout the organization
Guide and mentor CI engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence
Qualifications
Proven experience in continuous integration (CI) and developer productivity domains
Strong background in modern build systems (e.g. GitHub, Buildkite, Artifactory, Bazel)
Familiarity with cloud-native environments (AWS, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code
Solid programming background in Python, Kotlin, Java, or similar languages
Excellent problem-solving skills balancing long-term vision with short-term impact
Experience managing build systems for large monorepos; preferred experience with Bazel
Active contribution to open source projects or experience in large-scale software development is a plus
