Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various manual machining equipment to produce precision parts and components. Your expertise will ensure that all machined products meet strict quality standards and specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of materials, including plastics and metals, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and craftsmanship to contribute to high-quality manufacturing processes. Responsibilities • Operate manual machining tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses with precision and safety in mind. • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce accurate components. • Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensions and tolerances. • Set up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces accurately on CNC lathes and milling machines for production runs. • Perform routine maintenance on manual machining equipment and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime. • Assist in programming CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software when needed, supporting seamless integration between manual and CNC operations. • Follow safety protocols diligently while handling power tools, welding equipment, hand tools, and other manufacturing machinery. • Support assembly processes by machining parts that meet exact specifications for final product integration. • Maintain detailed records of machining processes, measurements, and inspections for quality assurance purposes. Qualifications • Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or in a similar manufacturing role with hands-on expertise in machining operations. • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to read blueprints accurately and understand GD&T principles. • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines. • Familiarity with CNC programming concepts; experience with Fanuc controls is a plus. • Knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or general blueprint reading skills. • Experience working with CNC lathes and milling machines; knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) is advantageous. • Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, tooling setups, welding equipment, and other manufacturing tools. • Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations during machining tasks. • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials or equipment when required. • Certification in lean manufacturing practices or plastics injection molding is a plus but not mandatory.
