Staff Software Engineer, AI

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer AI to join the team of a leader in the Transportation space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a operationally complex logistics environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $130,000 – $180,000 annually Responsibilities Own technical vision and architecture for the AI platform Drive technical strategy aligned with product goals and engineering plans Establish and enforce technical quality standards for design and code reviews Design and build core components of the AI platform in TypeScript Mentor engineers, fostering autonomous decision-making within the team Collaborate with Product Management to shape the AI roadmap Proactively identify risks and opportunities in technical execution Qualifications 5-7 years of experience in software development, particularly with TypeScript Strong background in building and deploying LLM-powered features in production Hands-on experience with distributed systems and edge computing, preferably Cloudflare Workers Proficient in API design, integration, and database persistence with SQL Experience with observability tools for monitoring production systems Demonstrated leadership through mentorship and technical authority Familiarity with data streaming platforms and cloud services Benefits Flexible working environment with high autonomy Focus on career growth through mentoring and skill development Involvement in high-impact projects that shape the company's product suite Opportunities for cross-functional collaboration within a diverse team Culture that values technical excellence and accountability Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
