Business Controller

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a growing, acquisition-driven construction and project-based services organization to identify a Business Controller to join their team. The Business Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of assigned business(s), ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and insightful financial analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making. This role acts as a key finance partner to business leaders, driving profitability, cost management, and performance optimization. What You'll Be Doing: Financial Reporting & Close • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP • Manage revenue recognition for service contracts, inspection & testing (I&T), monitoring, and project work Financial Planning & Analysis • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for the business unit • Analyze financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods; explain variances and trends • Develop financial models to evaluate business initiatives, investments, and pricing strategies Business Partnership • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to business unit leadership • Provide actionable insights to improve margins, cash flow, and return on investment • Support contract review, capital expenditure analysis, and resource allocation decisions Cost & Performance Management • Monitor and control operating expenses, headcount, and capital spending • Identify risks and opportunities; recommend corrective actions to meet financial targets • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting efficiency Leadership & Collaboration
