This role involves defining game features, bonus structures, paytable economics, and underlying math models that influence game performance and player engagement. The successful candidate will own the entire lifecycle of game design, from initial concept through mathematical development, simulation validation, and iterative tuning. Collaboration with engineering, product, and creative teams is essential to ensure that each game complies with regulatory standards while delivering engaging and commercially successful experiences. This position requires deep expertise in casino game mathematics, mechanics design, and an understanding of regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering, or a closely related quantitative field. Master’s degree or higher preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in slot game design and/or slot game mathematics within a land-based or online casino environment.
Expert knowledge of casino game mathematics including RTP calculation, volatility modeling, hit frequency analysis, prize distribution, combinatorics, and probability theory.
Proven ability to design engaging slot game mechanics across various gambling concepts and styles.
Advanced proficiency in Excel for probability modeling, paytable prototyping, and data analysis.
Deep familiarity with PAR sheet creation and regulatory documentation standards for online and land-based slot games.
Strong understanding of player psychology and behavioral engagement patterns.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex mathematical concepts into clear documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
Design and define the functional mechanics for original online casino games, including base game structures, bonus triggers, progressive jackpots, gamble features, cascading mechanics, and meta-games.
Develop comprehensive mathematical models for each game, including RTP targets, volatility profiles, hit frequency, prize distribution, and payout structures.
Create and maintain PAR sheets, combination sheets, and all regulatory math documentation required for internal review, certification, and approvals.
Define symbol hierarchies, paytable structures, reel layouts (including non-traditional formats), win-line configurations, and feature trigger conditions.
Write demo and prototype code to facilitate rapid mechanic testing before full-scale development.
Assess existing casino concepts for adaptation into RSI’s online gaming environment.
Develop detailed Game Design Documents (GDDs) and functional specifications for cross-disciplinary teams including engineering, art, and audio.
Ensure all math models meet regulatory standards across multiple jurisdictions, adjusting for local RTP ranges, win caps, and fairness requirements.
Play-test and iterate on in-development games, providing feedback on math balance, mechanic feel, feature pacing, and edge cases.
Analyze post-launch game data to recommend adjustments in math models and mechanics to optimize performance.
Maintain RSI’s internal game design standards and style guides to ensure consistency and quality.
Collaborate with creative leads to align visual and thematic elements with functional mechanics.
Work closely with software engineers to verify math implementation and review game software during development phases.
Partner with designers and product managers to brainstorm new concepts, refine ongoing projects, and share best practices across teams.
Benefits
Work-life balance initiatives designed to promote well-being and flexibility.
Autonomy in your role, encouraging personal responsibility and initiative.
Opportunities for creativity and innovation in game development.
Support for personal and professional growth through ongoing development programs.
