Description

For our client, we are seeking a (usa) Principal Software Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Retail & Consumer Goods space. This role will lead technical work focused on cloud-enabled scalability, reliability, and delivery excellence. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a consumer-facing environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $143,000 – $286,000 annually Responsibilities Provide technical expertise to accelerate best engineering practices Lead medium to large-scale projects, translating requirements into solutions Develop highly scalable services to process millions of requests daily Design backend microservices and APIs using JVM ecosystem and other programming languages Collaborate with cross-functional teams and troubleshoot issues Drive high visibility projects across the organization Engage in high-level design during the discovery phase of projects Qualifications Master's in Computer Science with 10+ years of experience in architecting large scale systems Expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g. Java, Python) Strong background in algorithms and data structures Experience in leading teams delivering large scale distributed systems Proven understanding of microservices architecture and extensible REST APIs Experience with cloud application development and public/private cloud offerings (e.g., AWS, Azure) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and advanced knowledge of performance, scalability, and system architecture Benefits Medical, vision, and dental coverage 401(k) and stock purchase options Paid time off, including sick leave and parental leave Short-term and long-term disability insurance Company discounts and Military Leave Pay Tuition reimbursement through Live Better U program Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
