Senior Director, Compensation

<p>MongoDB’s People team is on a journey to optimize our compensation programs for scale. We are looking for strategic and analytical individuals to drive innovative, competitive compensation rewards programs that attract, reward and retain our best assets, our people!</p> <p>To that end, our Global Compensation team is looking for a Senior Director, Compensation Partners to play significant leadership across MongoDB’s global compensation programs, co-leading the team alongside the Director of Compensation Operations Reporting to our VP, Total Rewards,&nbsp; you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and a key architect of our compensation strategy as we continue to scale globally.&nbsp;</p> <h3>What You Will Do</h3> <h3>Strategic Leadership</h3> <ul> <li>Define and evolve global compensation strategy aligned with business goals, growth stage, and talent needs</li> <li>Advise senior leaders (Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&amp;A) on compensation trends, market competitiveness, and equity practices</li> <li>Balance market competitiveness, pay equity, and cost efficiency in a fast-moving tech environment</li> </ul> <h3>Compensation Programs &amp; Projects</h3> <ul> <li>Lead the design and evolution of global compensation philosophy, ensuring alignment with company strategy, talent needs, and market competitiveness</li> <li>Own job architecture strategy, including leveling frameworks, job families, and career structures, to support consistency, clarity, and growth at scale</li> <li>Drive complex, cross-functional compensation initiatives from concept through implementation, acting as DRI and accountable owner for outcomes, timelines, and quality</li> <li>Partner with Director, Compensation Operations to design and implement scalable frameworks, tools, and processes that enable effective, consistent compensation decision-making globally</li> <li>Benchmark against peer tech companies and evolving talent markets</li> </ul> <h3>Business Partnership</h3> <ul> <li>Lead and develop a global team of Compensation Partners supporting multiple business units</li> <li>Advise on hiring offers, promotions, retention, and organizational changes, especially for critical technical roles</li> <li>Use data and market insights to guide compensation decisions in competitive talent markets</li> </ul> <h3>Cross-Functional Collaboration</h3> <ul> <li>Partner with Finance on compensation planning, forecasting, and equity spend</li> <li>Collaborate with HRIS and People Analytics to improve tools, modeling, and reporting</li> <li>Work with Recruiting to support competitive, scalable hiring strategies</li> </ul> <h3>Team Leadership</h3> <ul> <li>Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing compensation team</li> <li>Build a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement</li> </ul> <h3>Who You Are</h3> <ul> <li>Strategic leader and trusted advisor: You shape decisions and influence outcomes at the senior leadership level, owning complex, high-impact initiatives end-to-end across strategy and execution.</li> <li>Operator with executive range: You seamlessly move between detail and big picture, diving deep when needed, connecting cross-functional dots, and driving enterprise-wide impact. You thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, bringing focus and prioritization while navigating shifting demands and organizational complexity.</li> <li>Driver of clarity, alignment, and execution: You cut through ambiguity, challenge assumptions, and align stakeholders to make clear decisions and deliver results across complex initiatives.</li> <li>Compensation expert with SaaS and global perspective 15+ years of experience with deep expertise in broadbased, Sales incentives plan design, and executive compensation, ideally within SaaS environments. Experienced operating internationally, with strong understanding of global market practices and regulatory considerations.</li> <li>Builder of teams and culture</li> <li>You create alignment, trust, and camaraderie across teams. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package.
