About the Opportunity :The **Staff Software Engineer, Search** will lead the development of critical backend services and data infrastructure powering the organization’s advanced search platform. This role focuses on transforming the search experience into an intelligent, intent-driven system using modern technologies such as embeddings, large language models, and sophisticated ranking methods. The position plays a key role in shaping the search strategy and engineering standards, ensuring scalable, high-performance, and patient-centered search capabilities . 3. Responsibilitie s:• Architect and build core backend services, APIs, and data pipelines for the next-generation search platfor m.• Redesign data ingestion and indexing workflows for provider, availability, and content informatio n.• Optimize low-latency query processing across tier-1 search, vector search, and ranking system s.• Integrate ML model serving, embedding generation, and ranking signals into production backend service s.• Guide architectural direction and engineering standards through documentation, technical reviews, and mentorshi p.• Mentor engineers on best practices in backend development, distributed systems, and API desig n.• Implement observability measures to monitor and improve performance, reliability, and data freshnes s. 4. Requiremen ts:• Proven experience owning and scaling complex, high-traffic backend platforms with distributed systems experti se.• Proficiency in C# / .NET or similar backend frameworks, emphasizing performance and concurren cy.• Experience designing and operating large-scale data pipelines and stream-processing workflo ws.• Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native infrastructure patterns including ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, Kinesis, OpenSearch, and S3.• Familiarity with search technologies, vector databases, embedding models, and ML model serving at production sca le.• Excellent communication skills to align cross-functional tea ms.• Commitment to mentoring and raising technical standar ds.• Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant systems in latency-sensitive environmen ts. 5.
