Blue Planet, a division of Ciena, is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Field & Channel Marketing to lead worldwide marketing initiatives that drive pipeline growth, accelerate revenue, and strengthen customer engagement. This role will align closely with sales, product, and corporate marketing teams to deliver high-impact programs focused on generating operations support systems (OSS) software sales with communication service providers globally.
How You Will Make An Impact
• Lead and execute a global field and channel marketing strategy aligned to regional sales priorities and revenue targets
• Partner with sales leadership to identify opportunities, design account-based marketing (ABM) programs, and accelerate pipeline progression
• Deliver integrated campaigns, events, and executive engagements (in-person and virtual) that drive demand and customer expansion
• Translate corporate messaging into regionally relevant programs aligned to target accounts and buyer personas
• Drive lead generation and pipeline management from creation through closure, providing dashboards and visibility to sales
• Build customer advocacy through case studies, technology award submissions, and customer press releases
• Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team of field and channel marketers
The Must Haves
• Experience: 10+ years of experience in B2B field marketing, demand generation, or outbound marketing within telecommunications, networking, or artificial intelligence software environments
• Leadership Experience: 3+ years of experience leading and developing marketing teams
• Results: Demonstrated success driving pipeline growth and revenue impact through field and channel marketing programs
• Sales Alignment: Strong experience aligning with sales organizations and executing account-based marketing (ABM) strategies
• Technical Skills: Data-driven mindset with hands-on experience using customer relationship management (CRM) and marketing automation platforms such as Salesforce and Marketo
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a technical field
Nice To Haves
• Industry Experience: Experience marketing to communications service providers (CSPs)
• Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with operations support systems (OSS), network automation, orchestration, service assurance, and artificial intelligence–driven operations
• Global Exposure: Background in global, matrixed B2B technology organizations
• Advanced Education: Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Pay Range
• The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $143,700 – $229,500
• The annual pay range for this position in the United States is $157,900 – $252,200
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
