About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Java Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic Investment Experience Technology team at USAA. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing high-impact solutions within our new investment services platform. Collaborating with a talented team of professionals, you will contribute to the development of scalable, high-quality software that enhances digital investment experiences for our members and financial advisors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in an agile, fast-paced environment that values innovation, bold thinking, and continuous improvement. You will utilize a modern tech stack, including Go, Java, APIs, and OpenShift, to help build next-generation investment solutions that deliver seamless, intelligent, and scalable tools for our users.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, with at least four years of comprehensive software development experience. Additional certifications from recognized programs such as CodeUp, Galvanize, VetFIT, or eFIT are also acceptable in lieu of a degree. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of Java and other relevant technologies such as Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS, SQL, Go, and Python. Experience in delivering solutions across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including leading code and design reviews, is essential. A foundational understanding of cloud technologies and tools, along with troubleshooting skills for production issues, is required. The candidate should also have a developing business acumen related to operations, risk management, and emerging industry trends. Excellent communication skills to articulate technical challenges and solutions are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, code, and test complex technical solutions aligned with project requirements and standards.
Investigate and resolve intricate application and system issues, including troubleshooting production problems effectively.
Conduct comprehensive systems analysis to recommend and implement operational improvements and policy changes.
Prepare and install complex solutions by defining system specifications, standards, and programming requirements.
Adhere to the software development lifecycle, ensuring quality and timely delivery of solutions.
Participate actively in design reviews, gaining insights into key system design principles and best practices.
Mentor junior engineers and, as experience grows, begin mentoring peer engineers; review team members' code for quality assurance.
Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
