We need a qualified Production Manager to organize output in accordance with demand and industry best practices. A good Production Manager is well-organized and results-oriented, with excellent problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and computer abilities are required for the position.
Position Overview:
The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions in the Production Departments ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, on time, and to strict quality standards.
Core Responsibilities:
· Production Planning & Execution:
• Create and manage daily/weekly production schedules, ensuring compliance with Master Production Schedules (MPS) and customer demand.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate between the two shifts.
• Develop, collect, analyze, and report key metrics including scrap, utilization, and on-time delivery.
· Quality Control & Compliance: Enforce IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer-specific standards, reducing scrap and ensuring First Time Right (FTR) metrics.
· Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor production supervisors and hourly employees, fostering a culture of safety and performance.
· Process Improvement: Utilize lean manufacturing tools (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma) to optimize workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and improve efficiency. Daily Gemba walks mandatory.
· Safety Enforcement: Ensure daily adherence to safety policies (PPE, OSHA requirements) and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
· Resource Management: Coordinate with maintenance to ensure machine uptime and manage raw materials/inventory accuracy. Including, preventative maintenance is completed and documented.
· Reporting: Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as line efficiency, scrap rates, and on-time delivery.
· Effective Communication: Communicate with all levels within the organization to report and correct manufacturing/quality issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Performance Evaluations: Conduct supervisor reviews and verify that all Operator/Set-up Techs annual reviews are completed in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Licenses/Certificate:
Valid Driver’s License.
Experience:
5+ years of manufacturing experience, with significant experience in an automotive supplier environment (Tier 1 or Tier 2). 3+ years management experience.
Skills:
· Leadership: Proven ability to lead large teams, including direct supervision of hourly employees.
· Technical Knowledge: Understanding of automotive quality systems (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans).
· Systems: Proficiency in ERP systems (Plex preferred) and MS Office.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
· Delegate responsibilities effectively.
