About The Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Specialist in Software Engineering to join our dynamic technology team at L3Harris. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, enhancing, and maintaining software solutions that support our strategic objectives and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cybersecurity practices, software development, and collaboration within cross-functional teams. Your expertise will contribute to the design and implementation of critical software applications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of security, performance, and reliability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge defense technologies in a fast-paced environment, with potential for growth and professional development. Qualifications The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, with a minimum of six years of relevant experience. Candidates with a Graduate Degree should have at least four years of experience, while those without a degree must demonstrate a minimum of ten years of applicable work history. Proven experience in software development within the Department of Defense (DoD) industry is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or similar. Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. Flexibility to travel domestically and work extended hours as needed is also necessary. Responsibilities Expertise in Linux cybersecurity practices, including SELinux (MAC), DAC configuration, auditing, integrity monitoring (fapolicyd), iptables, and systemd services (e.g., seccomp). Utilize automation tools like the SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC) and adhere to Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) standards to ensure compliance with DoD security requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new features, functionalities, and security enhancements into existing software systems. Participate in project planning, including defining timelines, designing specifications, and optimizing system performance. Conduct thorough code reviews, develop unit tests, and document software implementations to maintain high quality standards. Troubleshoot and resolve issues within software applications, improving user experience and system reliability. Stay current with emerging technology trends, security practices, and industry standards to continually improve software solutions.
