About The Role WOOD Federal Solutions is seeking a highly experienced User Experience (UX) Designer 2 to join their team in Fort Meade, Maryland. This full-time position is ideal for a senior UX professional who possesses a comprehensive understanding of designing for complex, mission-critical systems within a high-assurance environment. The successful candidate will lead the end-to-end design efforts across the project lifecycle, working closely with technical teams, engineers, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders to create intuitive, accessible, and effective user interfaces. This role requires a proactive individual capable of balancing usability with technical constraints, ensuring that user needs are at the forefront of system development. The position offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $175,000 per year and demands active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph, reflecting the sensitive nature of the projects involved. Qualifications Ten (10) years of professional experience in User Experience (UX) Design. Five (5) years of recent experience supporting or leading project lifecycle design efforts within the past ten (10) years. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Alternatively, four (4) additional years of relevant UX design experience on comparable projects may be substituted for a degree. Proven experience designing for complex systems or enterprise-level applications. Strong ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Responsibilities Lead the planning, design, and development of user experiences for mission-critical devices, tools, and systems. Establish and enforce interaction standards, usability conventions, and visual design principles to ensure consistency and quality across projects. Collaborate with engineers, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders to gather, refine, and validate user requirements. Develop wireframes, screen mockups, and prototypes to illustrate design concepts and support system functionality. Participate in design trade-off discussions to balance usability, technical constraints, and mission objectives. Analyze tools, platforms, and technologies to enhance user interaction, accessibility, and overall system effectiveness. Apply visualization and screen design expertise to create intuitive and accessible interfaces that meet user needs. Support clients and team members in understanding emerging interaction techniques and innovative design approaches.
