Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) FLSA Status: Salaried/Exempt Heritage Medical Associates (HMA) is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead a high-performing, physician-led organization through its next phase of growth and operational excellence. The CEO is accountable for translating HMA’s mission, North Star, and strategic pillars into aligned execution across the enterprise. This role ensures financial strength, operational discipline, and cultural alignment while preserving and advancing a physician-led model grounded in shared accountability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet organizational needs. Strategy Execution • Translate mission, vision, and strategic pillars into clear, actionable priorities • Align Board, Executive Committee, and operational leaders around execution • Drive measurable progress against strategic objectives Financial & Operational Leadership • Enhance financial transparency (processes, education, training, development) • Strengthen core operational functions (revenue cycle, access, throughput)- experience with multi-functional/specialties • Establish and enforce enterprise metrics and performance management systems • Ensure consistency across sites while balancing clinical autonomy Physician Partnership & Governance • Operate effectively within a physician-led governance model • Build trust and alignment with physician shareholders • Clarify roles, expectations, and accountability across governance structures • Partner closely with the Board and Executive Committee on strategy Culture & Organizational Alignment • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and interdependence • Address performance variability and misalignment decisively • Reinforce consistent leadership behaviors across the organization People & Leadership • Build and lead a high-performing executive leadership team • Ensure organizational structure and talent align with strategy • Drive leadership development and succession planning • Partner with HR to support engagement, retention, and performance Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred • 10–15+ years of progressive executive leadership experience in healthcare • Demonstrated success leading multi-site, multi-specialty physician practices or comparable healthcare organizations • Experience operating within or alongside a physician-led governance model strongly preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong understanding of revenue cycle management, payer dynamics, and healthcare financial drivers • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory, compliance, and risk environments preferred • Strategic execution: Ability to translate vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes • Financial management: Advanced skills in budgeting, forecasting, and performance optimization • Operational leadership: Ability to standardize processes and drive consistency across locations • Stakeholder management: Skilled in influencing physicians, boards, and executive leaders • Communication: Clear, direct communicator with the ability to align diverse audiences • Change management: Proven ability to lead transformation initiatives with pace and discipline • Understanding of governance structures, particularly within physician-led organizations • Ability to collaborate cross-departmentally and effectively interface with all levels of employees – staff, senior leaders, and providers • Ability to lead through complexity, balancing competing priorities across clinical, operational, and financial needs • Ability to build trust and credibility quickly, particularly with physician stakeholders Physical Demands and Work Environment • Frequent typing, computer work and filing required • Clinical setting – exposure to communicable diseases, medical preparations, and other conditions common to a clinical environment • Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens or contaminated body fluids Why Heritage Medical Associates This is an opportunity to lead a physician-led organization that is serious about performance, accountability, and getting better.
