Company Description
The Homeless Garden Project (HGP) addresses the interconnected challenges of homelessness and joblessness through comprehensive programs that address program participants with a whole person approach. By providing a paid and structured job-training program, real work experience in our employment social enterprises, and building a strong community, we equip individuals with skills, work history, and confidence essential for transitioning out of homelessness. Our integrated approach tackles barriers such as lack of social support networks and self-esteem, creating pathways for sustainable change and, importantly, a sense of belonging. Integrated with the employment programs, HGP operates a community education and volunteer program. All programs take place in our 3.5 acre organic farm and related social enterprises. Our beloved organization is deeply committed to making a positive impact in the Santa Cruz, CA community. In the last year, 94% of our graduates secured jobs and housing.
HGP is currently preparing to transition from its temporary 3.5-acre site to a permanent home with multiple buildings. The property purchase is anticipated in late summer 2026, with construction beginning in 2027. This transition represents a pivotal moment for the organization, and the Director of Operations will be instrumental in both managing day-to-day operations and supporting effective change management throughout this process.
