JOB OUTLINE The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive team responsible for the Company’s financial strategy, reporting, and controls. The CFO reports to the CEO and partners closely with other executives, ownership, and the Board to drive profitability, optimize cash flow, ensure financial integrity, and support long-term growth initiatives. In addition to leading Finance, this role provides executive support and direction to HR, IT, and insurance/risk functions, ensuring scalable systems, strong controls, and effective support of operations across all locations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Financial Leadership & Strategy • Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives and growth plans. • Drive profitability initiatives including margin improvement, cost control, pricing discipline, and overhead optimization. • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-range financial planning. • Provide financial insight and decision support to the CEO, executive team, and Board. Financial Management, Reporting & Controls • Full responsibility for timely and accurate financial reporting. • Oversee monthly and annual close processes and consolidated reporting. • Prepare and present financial results, forecasts, KPIs, and performance analyses to stakeholders. • Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment, policies, and procedures. • Support external audits, tax compliance, and lead coordination with auditors and advisors. OEM, Banking & External Partner Engagement • Support OEM relationships through accurate and timely financial reporting. • Lead and manage relationships with third-party lenders, including oversight of borrowing base calculations, financial reporting, and ongoing lender communications. • Oversee floor plan lending relationships with both OEM and non-OEM lenders, ensuring compliance with facility terms, curtailment schedules, and reporting obligations. • Maintain effective communication with PE professionals and capital partners. • Manage banking relationships and credit facilities activities. • Oversee insurance, bonding, and risk management programs. Operational & Enterprise Support • Partner with operations to improve dealership performance across equipment sales, service, parts, and rental departments. • Improve working capital management, inventory controls, billing accuracy, and cash cycle performance. • Provide financial input on major contracts, capital investments, and lease-versus-buy decisions. HR, IT & Systems Oversight • Provide executive leadership and oversight of HR and IT functions, ensuring alignment with enterprise needs. • Serve as executive sponsor for ERP, financial systems, and data governance. • Drive automation, process improvement, and system enhancements to improve reporting, controls, and scalability. • Ensure systems support multi-location operations, internal controls, and management decision-making. Mergers & Acquisitions / Corporate Development • Lead financial due diligence for acquisitions and strategic partnerships. • Support valuation modeling, deal structuring, and post-transaction integration. • Ensure M&A activity aligns with long-term financial strategy and capital planning. People Leadership & Governance • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across Finance, HR, and IT. • Build strong talent pipelines, succession plans, and performance management disciplines. • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS • Strong command of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. • Experience leading and developing multi-functional teams across finance, HR, and IT. • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, multi-location environment. • Experience managing banking relationships, financing arrangements, and insurance programs. • Experience supporting or leading M&A transactions. • Proficiency with ERP and financial systems; commitment to data governance and process automation. QUALIFICATIONS • Proven experience as a Chief Financial Officer or equivalent senior financial executive. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. • 10–15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience. • CPA designation highly regarded; candidates with active CPA licensure or equivalent advanced accounting credentials are strongly encouraged to apply. • CFO experience in a heavy equipment dealership, construction, or related industry strongly preferred. • Experience supporting or leading M&A transactions preferred.
