Respekt Music is an independent music company focused on live concerts, underground electronic music, artist development, and record releases. Rooted in a deep respect for house, techno, experimental, ambient, and forward-thinking electronic music, Respekt Music produces carefully curated events that prioritize sound, community, and cultural integrity over hype. Our work includes club events, warehouse-style gatherings, listening experiences, record releases, and artist-focused programming across New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and other key music markets. Position Overview Respekt Music is seeking a culturally connected and commercially aware Live Music Talent Buyer / Concert Booker to help develop and book live concert programming across multiple genres. This role is ideal for someone with at least 3–5 years of experience booking live concerts across genres including alternative, rock, indie, R&B, soul, electronic, hip-hop, jazz, experimental, singer-songwriter, and other forms of contemporary music. The Talent Buyer will work closely with Respekt Music to identify artists, develop show concepts, negotiate offers, communicate with agents and managers, and help build concerts that are artistically strong, financially viable, and aligned with the company’s identity. This is a project-based and commission-based role, best suited for someone with existing relationships in the live music ecosystem and the ability to bring strong opportunities, market knowledge, and booking strategy to individual events and ongoing programming. Key Responsibilities Identify and pursue live concert opportunities across multiple genres, including alternative, rock, indie, R&B, soul, electronic, hip-hop, jazz, experimental, and other contemporary music. Develop artist booking ideas, concert concepts, and programming strategies that align with Respekt Music’s artistic direction and business goals. Communicate with agents, managers, artists, venues, promoters, and partners regarding availability, offers, routing, holds, and deal terms. Prepare and negotiate artist offers, including guarantees, door deals, back-end structures, ticket scaling, radius clauses, hospitality, and production considerations. Evaluate artist draw, ticket history, market demand, routing, venue fit, and financial risk. Assist in building event budgets, show settlements, ticket pricing, and revenue projections. Coordinate with venues and production partners to confirm capacity, technical needs, hospitality requirements, settlement terms, and event logistics. Maintain organized records of artist conversations, offers, holds, confirmations, budgets, and contract details. Help identify strategic partnerships, co-promoters, venues, collectives, and cultural organizations for collaborative programming. Work with marketing teams to communicate artist positioning, audience profile, ticketing strategy, and key selling points for each event. Ideal Candidate At least 3–5 years of experience booking live concerts across multiple music genres. Strong understanding of the live concert ecosystem, including agents, managers, venues, promoters, ticketing, production, hospitality, and settlements. Experience booking alternative, rock, indie, R&B, soul, electronic, hip-hop, jazz, experimental, singer-songwriter, or other contemporary music artists. Existing relationships with agents, managers, venues, promoters, or artist teams. Strong taste, cultural awareness, and ability to identify artists with both artistic value and commercial potential. Ability to assess artist draw, ticket history, venue fit, market timing, and financial risk. Comfortable negotiating offers and communicating professionally with industry partners. Organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple potential bookings at different stages of development. Interest in helping build a thoughtful, artist-driven concert platform rather than simply chasing trends. Compensation This is not a salaried position. Compensation will be structured on a per-job, per-show, and/or commission basis, depending on the project. Possible compensation structures may include: A flat fee per confirmed booking or event.
