About the Opportunity The Senior Software Engineer will lead critical technical initiatives within the platform supporting laboratory operations. This role entails end-to-end ownership of complex systems, guiding architectural decisions, and mentoring engineering peers. The position is pivotal in shaping engineering culture and scaling the organization’s technical capabilities to support operational efficiency and growth. Responsibilities Full-Stack Development: Develop scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, and build efficient, responsive user-facing applications with React and Next.js. System Architecture: Design extensible system architectures that balance performance, security, and long-term maintainability. Lead technical design reviews and system decomposition across multiple teams. End-to-End Lifecycle Management: Manage full lifecycle delivery of complex features, including comprehensive planning, API design, UI implementation, and post-release monitoring. Observability & Reliability: Ensure high availability and observability of services by enhancing alerting, logging, metrics, and incident response. Participate in on-call rotations and lead post-incident reviews to improve system reliability. Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks in operational or architectural resilience and implement necessary structural improvements. Engineering Culture: Uphold strict engineering standards through detailed code reviews, hands-on mentorship, and technical documentation. Foster cross-team collaboration to reduce knowledge silos and maintain system continuity. Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to align engineering milestones with corporate goals. Requirements Professional Experience: 8 to 12 years of professional software engineering experience with deep backend expertise (Node.js, PostgreSQL) and strong front-end experience (React, TypeScript). System Design & Scale: Proven experience architecting, delivering, and maintaining scalable production systems. Possesses strong systems-thinking capabilities to evaluate scalability, reliability, and maintainability trade-offs. Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated experience mentoring engineering peers and a proven ability to elevate team-wide technical standards. Observability Practices: Hands-on experience with modern observability practices, including logs, alerts, monitoring dashboards, and standard engineering runbooks. Execution in Ambiguity: Ability to operate successfully in ambiguous environments and clarify complex technical requirements across diverse stakeholders. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications Professional experience working in regulated industries (such as healthcare or medical software). Familiarity with containerized cloud environments, CI/CD automation pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC). Experience working with event-driven architectures or microservices.
