About the Opportunity The Senior Software Engineer, Knowledge Graph will design and scale the data platform powering the organization's graph system, which is critical for delivering personalized product experiences. This role focuses on building scalable data ingestion and consumption systems and improving performance in production environments, directly impacting the reliability and effectiveness of data-driven features. Responsibilities Architecture and Strategy: Collaborate with infrastructure and product engineering teams to define the overarching technical vision for the corporate Knowledge Graph. Infrastructure Engineering: Design, build, and scale the end-to-end Travel Graph infrastructure to efficiently serve diverse data consumers and data producers. Data Pipelines: Lead large-scale data onboarding initiatives, ensuring highly reliable, user-friendly ingestion of various data sources via both batch and near real-time processing pipelines. Downstream Integration: Integrate the Knowledge Graph seamlessly with downstream production systems—including Search, Machine Learning models, and Analytics platforms—to ensure high performance. System Optimization: Debug complex production issues and continuously enhance system reliability, data observability, and end-to-end infrastructure performance. Requirements Professional Experience: At least 5 years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or 3 or more years of experience for candidates holding a PhD. Distributed Systems: Proven experience building and maintaining high-scale distributed systems within data infrastructure, databases, or high-throughput streaming platforms. Data Processing Tech Stack: Hands-on experience utilizing Kafka, Flink, Spark, or similar big data technologies for high-volume data ingestion and processing workflows. System Design & AI/ML: Strong skills in backend system design and debugging focused on real-world reliability and scalability. Experience applying AI/ML techniques to data infrastructure, or familiarity with large language models (LLMs), is a plus. Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or an equivalent engineering field. Compensation and Benefits Compensation Base Salary: The pay range for this position is $196,000 to $230,000 USD per year. Final compensation offers are determined by individual geographic location, matching technical skills, and relative engineering experience.
