About Netholabs
Netholabs is a frontier neuroscience and AI research company working at the intersection of deep learning, ethology, and physical engineering. We are on a mission to defend and enhance human agency in the age of superhuman artificial intelligence.
Instead of training AI solely on internet text, we build biological foundation models grounded in evolutionary intelligence. We design custom hardware, ultra-high-density neural recording systems, and complex tracking environments to capture petabyte-scale neurobehavioral datasets. By mapping these biological dynamics to digital organisms, we are building Whole Brain Emulations (WBE) to unlock structurally safe, human-compatible artificial general intelligence.
At Netholabs, you will work alongside world-class neuroscientists, machine learning researchers, and engineers to build the data infrastructure and neural models that will define the future of safe AGI. We have offices in London and San Francisco.
The Role
We're looking for a Human Data Collection Lead to own the quality and integrity of everything we record. We capture people performing real-world tasks, from physical manipulation to computer use, across many precisely synchronised modalities at once: motion tracking, eye tracking, multi-camera video, and neural signals such as EEG.
Right now this is a hands-on technical role. You'll set up and operate the recording rigs, get every device aligned in time and space, and apply the craft that makes neural data clean and trustworthy. Once the data is proven and collection volume grows, the role expands to building and managing the participant pipeline.
Responsibilities
Now: rigs, sessions, and data quality
Set up, calibrate, and operate multimodal recording rigs: motion tracking, eye tracking, camera arrays, and neural and physiological sensors
Own temporal synchronisation and spatial calibration across every device, so all data streams line up
Run recording sessions spanning manipulation tasks and computer use, with neural data recorded throughout
Apply neuroimaging best practices: careful sensor placement, signal and impedance checks, artefact and noise reduction
Verify each session is complete, correctly logged, and meets quality standards before it reaches the research team
Obtain informed consent and handle participant data under UK GDPR; keep clear, versioned SOPs as protocols evolve
As we scale: participants and team
Build and manage the participant panel, recruitment, screening, and scheduling; structure repeat sessions and drive retention
Help stand up new collection sites internationally and keep protocols, consent, and data handling consistent across them
Requirements
You don't need to tick every box; please lean towards applying if the role seems interesting to you.
Background in neuroscience or a related field, with hands-on experience collecting neurophysiological data (EEG or other modalities) and keeping it clean
Comfortable setting up, calibrating, and troubleshooting recording hardware
Exceptional organisation and attention to detail; systematic, documents everything, lets nothing slip
Strong interpersonal skills; participants trust you and colleagues want to work with you
Comfortable in a fast-moving, early-stage environment where you define the process
Right to work in the UK, and willing and able to travel internationally on occasion
Valued
Experience with multimodal or time-synchronised recording setups (motion capture, eye tracking, multi-camera video)
Experience running human-subjects research operations (lab manager, clinical research coordinator, or similar)
Working knowledge of informed consent, UK research ethics, and UK GDPR
Prior startup experience
