Description

Company Description PowerBx designs and manufactures architectural mounting brackets for workplace technology; the hardware behind room scheduling displays from Crestron, Cisco, Logitech, and similar platforms. Our products are used in conference rooms, offices, lobbies, and enterprise workplace environments where clean installation, durability, and design quality matter. This role is ideal for someone who can move between design, CAD, prototyping, client requirements, vendor coordination, and manufacturing execution. The right person will help turn customer requests and market opportunities into documented, buildable, profitable products. Role Description The Manufacturing & Product Development Lead will be responsible for designing new products, improving existing products, supporting technical client requests, and helping PowerBx scale its manufacturing capabilities. The core of the role is mechanical design and CAD. Most PowerBx products are sheet metal fabricated brackets, enclosures, and mounting systems, but we also see a major opportunity to use 3D printing for rapid prototyping, fit checks, short-run products, and faster product iteration. This person will work directly with the owner, clients, vendors, and production partners to confirm requirements, create drawings, document decisions, manage revisions, and move products from concept to production. Product Design & CAD • Design new architectural mounting brackets, tablet enclosures, display mounts, and compatible hardware interfaces. • Create clean, accurate CAD models, drawings, flat patterns, prototypes, and production-ready files. • Translate customer requests, device dimensions, installation constraints, and architectural requirements into practical product designs. • Evaluate fit, finish, mounting method, serviceability, and installation simplicity. • Maintain organized design files, revision history, product specifications, and drawing standards. • Support design-for-manufacturing decisions across sheet metal, 3D printing, hardware selection, fastening, finishing, and packaging. Product Roadmap Ownership • Help define and manage the PowerBx product roadmap. • Identify new product opportunities based on client requests, vendor trends, device changes, and workplace technology needs. • Prioritize products based on revenue potential, customer demand, manufacturability, and speed to market. • Turn early product ideas into documented requirements, prototypes, quotes, and production-ready designs. • Recommend improvements to existing products based on install feedback, returns, vendor issues, cost, and customer needs. Client & Technical Support • Interface with clients, integrators, architects, and internal sales support to clarify technical requirements. • Review device specifications, wall conditions, mounting constraints, and installation needs. • Help answer technical questions related to product fit, compatibility, installation, finish, and customization. • Create simple diagrams, sketches, drawings, or notes that help customers understand product recommendations. • Document client requests clearly so custom work can become repeatable product knowledge. Prototyping & Manufacturing • Build or coordinate early prototypes using 3D printing, sheet metal samples, hardware mockups, and assembly tests. • Support the transition from prototype to production with a focus on quality, repeatability, cost, and speed. • Develop and improve work instructions, assembly procedures, inspection standards, and product documentation. • Review vendor samples, production parts, and first articles for fit, quality, and accuracy. • Identify opportunities to reduce cost, simplify assembly, improve packaging, and shorten lead times. Vendor & Supply Chain Support • Manage technical communication with fabrication, powder coating, 3D printing, hardware, and packaging vendors. • Source new vendors when needed for sheet metal, machining, printing, finishing, or specialty components. • Review quotes, drawings, vendor feedback, and production constraints. • Help evaluate vendor quality, pricing, responsiveness, and fit for future growth. • Support make-versus-buy and process improvement decisions. Documentation & Process • Keep detailed, organized records of designs, revisions, test results, vendor feedback, and client requirements. • Create repeatable product documentation so PowerBx can scale without relying on tribal knowledge. • Maintain product BOMs, drawings, install notes, specifications, manufacturing standards, vendor notes, and revision-controlled files. • Connect product development work to pre-launch and launch activity by documenting product positioning, use cases, customer pain points, competitive differences, installation notes, and sales enablement requirements as products move from concept to market. • Use AI automation tools and agent-based workflows, including OpenClaw-style functions where appropriate, to turn product documentation into launch assets such as product pages, spec sheets, install guides, sales notes, email campaigns, quote templates, HubSpot updates, and customer support references. • Work with leadership to identify where AI can reduce repetitive documentation, sales preparation, vendor follow-up, product research, and post-launch feedback loops. • Ensure AI-assisted workflows remain accurate, reviewed, and grounded in approved product documentation before being used with customers, vendors, or sales channels. Qualifications • Strong CAD skills; SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, Onshape, or similar. • Experience designing sheet metal parts, brackets, enclosures, fixtures, or mounting hardware. • Understanding of fabrication methods, bend allowances, tolerances, fastening, finishing, and assembly. • Experience with 3D printing for prototyping or short-run production. • Ability to create clear drawings, product documentation, work instructions, and revision-controlled files. • Comfortable communicating with customers, vendors, fabricators, and installers. • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. • Organized documentation habits. • Interest in manufacturing, workplace technology, architectural hardware, and product development. • Self-directed and motivated by revenue impact, product ownership, and growth opportunity.
