Description

We seek a strategic and execution-driven Director of Marketing to lead our marketing activities across the DACH region and reinforce our position as a full-service payment provider.

This role is responsible for developing and executing a localized marketing strategy that drives brand awareness, customer acquisition, and revenue growth across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. You own marketing outcomes for DACH end-to-end. While operating within a global organization, your primary focus is to ensure strong regional impact by translating broader strategic direction into locally effective execution..

You act as a senior sparring partner to leadership and take clear ownership of decisions in a dynamic, competitive, and highly regulated market.

Requirements

🚀 Key Responsibilities

Regional Marketing Strategy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive DACH marketing strategy aligned with regional and global objectives and regional market dynamics
  • Identify growth opportunities, customer segments, and key verticals within the payments ecosystem
  • Own the regional product marketing function for DACH, ensuring market requirements, customer feedback, and competitive insights are translated into product strategy and roadmap priorities
  • Continuously adapt strategy based on local market developments, competition, and regulatory changes

Demand Generation & Pipeline Growth

  • Own regional pipeline targets and drive demand generation through integrated campaigns (digital, events, partnerships, content)
  • Optimize performance marketing channels and lead lifecycle management

Brand & Positioning

  • Strengthen brand presence and thought leadership in the DACH fintech and payments landscape
  • Develop and execute the DACH events strategy, including industry conferences, customer events to support brand awareness, customer engagement, and pipeline generation
  • Own DACH public relations activities, including media relations, press releases, executive communications, thought leadership programs, and reputation management

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales to align on go-to-market strategies and account-based marketing initiatives
  • Work closely with Global Product teams to translate market requirements and product capabilities into compelling value propositions and commercial opportunities.

Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing regional marketing team across Martinsried and Hamburg
  • Drive a performance-oriented, accountable, and hands-on team culture
  • Manage external agencies and partners

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor competitive landscape, industry trends, and regulatory developments in fintech and payments
  • Translate insights into actionable strategies

Budget & Performance Management, Internal Events

  • Own regional marketing budget and ensure efficient allocation of resources aligned with regional priorities
  • Track, analyze, and report on KPIs, ROI, and campaign effectiveness
  • Establish clear planning cycles and performance transparency across stakeholders
  • Organisation of internal events

🧭​ Leadership & Operating Context

  • Act as the clear marketing owner for DACH, with end-to-end accountability for outcomes
  • Operate effectively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Make decisions with confidence, even in incomplete or ambiguous situations
  • Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Adapt quickly to changing market, regulatory, and business conditions
  • Provide clear, data-driven recommendations and act as a trusted advisor to leadership

💫 Qualifications & Experience

  • 8 - 12+ years of experience in B2B marketing, ideally within fintech, payments, SaaS, or financial services
  • Proven track record of driving growth and pipeline generation in the DACH region
  • Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem (e.g., PSPs, acquiring, issuing, digital wallets, open banking)
  • Experience operating in complex and matrixed organizations
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to build and develop high performing teams
  • Data-driven mindset with expertise in marketing analytics and automation tools
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence across functions
  • Fluent in German and English (mandatory)
  • Experience in high-growth or scale-up environments
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in financial services (e.g., PSD2, AML, KYC)
  • Strong network within the DACH fintech/payments community
