Program Coordinator

Summary The Program Coordinator for Brooklyn Community Recovery Center’s Neighborhood Outreach on Wheels (NOW) mobile unit manages the daily operations of a program intended to expand access to recovery-oriented services, mitigate harm from substance use, and strengthen workforce development opportunities for individuals in recovery. The coordinator will inform and refine the program’s policies and procedures, develop and maintain community partnerships, lead a team of Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPAs) to deliver services, and liaise with agency departments in furtherance of the program’s mission. This position combines program leadership, staff supervision, data-driven evaluation, and active field engagement with diverse Brooklyn communities impacted by substance use and social determinants of health. Programs offered through our Recovery Community and Outreach Center are designed to engage a broad and diverse cross section of the recovery community, enhance well-being, and promote recovery-oriented living. In collaboration with the leadership team (Director, other Coordinators, Recovery Care Manager, etc.), s/he is responsible for the coordination and management of the Brooklyn Community Recovery Center programming and its staff, as well as to establish and maintain community relationships in furtherance of a community recovery vision and toward the mission and goals of the Recovery Community Outreach Center, and those of the agency-at-large. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. • Responsible for both administrative and peer professional staff; supervises their hiring, informs/conducts performance evaluations, assigns training activities, recommends for promotions, evaluates for discipline and terminations. • Coordinate mobile outreach logistics, including schedules, staffing, supplies, and reporting on engagement numbers, Oversee coordination of recovery coaching, Narcan/OOPP trainings, wellness workshops, and pop-up recovery events. • Collect and analyze data on outreach contacts, enrollments, and training outcomes; prepare monthly and quarterly reports per DOHMH requirements. • Facilitate staff meetings, monitor program activities, and ensure compliance with Phoenix House policies and DOHMH grant requirements. • Strengthen partnerships with community organizations, elected officials, law enforcement, and public health entities to coordinate the “Quick Response Team” (QRT) model for overdose and harm reduction response. • Evaluate and monitors program activities (e.g. counseling, peer encounter groups, seminars and workshops, work assignments). • Represent BKCRC in community coalitions, advisory boards, and stakeholder meetings. • Develop culturally competent and trauma informed outreach strategies for LGBTQ+, veteran, justice-involved, and other vulnerable populations. • Support budget tracking and grant compliance for the program’s deliverables COMPETENCIES (KSAs) • Leadership • Initiative • Ethical Practices • Judgment • Relationship Management • Emotional Intelligence • Professional Boundaries • Global and Cultural Awareness • Critical Evaluation • Problem Solving • Decision Making • Communication • Teamwork • Crisis Management • Technical Capacity REQUIRED EDUCATION • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related human services field PREFERRED EDUCATION • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Mental Health or related field LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS • NYS Driver’s License • Certified Recovery Peer Advocate, Certified Recovery Coach, Certified Peer Specialist. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE • 2 years of experience providing or coordinating service delivery, mentoring/coaching/leading staff and/or volunteers • Experience working in outreach programs or other in-community service delivery settings • Familiarity with regulations governing substance use disorder recovery support services WORK ENVIRONMENT • This job mostly functions in an in-community setting.
