Location: Costa Mesa, California. We prefer in-person candidates. Hybrid may be considered for qualified candidates located further away from our offices. About the Role Do you obsess over what's trending in personal care, constantly testing new products just to stay in the know? Do you find yourself wandering the beauty aisles of Target, Ulta, and Whole Foods, studying the 4 P's of every competitor on the shelf? Do you love the rush of seeing an idea you sketched out on a Tuesday hit store shelves 3 to 4 months later? If that sounds like you, keep reading. We're looking for a Product Development Manager with at least 5 years of experience in consumer goods (beauty strongly preferred) who understands the full product lifecycle inside and out, from competitive analysis, costing, and sourcing, to internal and supplier briefing, negotiation, art direction, marketing callouts and hierarchy, artwork proofing, and project management. This isn't a traditional corporate PD role. We move fast, we bet on great ideas, and we ship. Since we're a lean team, you'll get the chance to wear many hats and take real ownership of your products from concept to shelf across haircare, skincare, and body care. You'll work closely with marketing, sales, operations, design, and our manufacturing partners to bring winning products to life. The ideal candidate is equal parts trend spotter and operator: someone with the taste to know what's next, and the discipline to flawlessly manage timelines, costing, testing, packaging, and launch readiness. Key Responsibilities Innovation & Ideation Identify trends, whitespace opportunities, and line extension ideas across both branded and off-price product development Continuously generate commercially viable ideas across categories and channels Develop product briefs for formulas, packaging, claims, and positioning Product Development & Execution Lead new product launches from concept to shelf across multiple brands Manage timelines, sample testing, revisions, and launch readiness Oversee artwork proofing, art direction, and marketing callouts and hierarchy Apply a working knowledge of printing processes and vessel decoration to ensure packaging executes as designed Sourcing & Supplier Management Manage supplier communication, costing, MOQ, and production timelines Negotiate with vendors and manufacturing partners to hit cost and quality targets Be available around the clock when overseas issues arise at the factory, including virtual press checks across time zones Technical & Regulatory Fluency Maintain a solid understanding of cosmetic ingredients, regulations, and beauty industry standards Ensure formulas and claims align with regulatory requirements and brand positioning Cross Functional Collaboration & Tools Partner with sourcing, sales, marketing, and design teams to execute quickly Align closely with internal stakeholders on briefs, positioning, and launch plans Actively explore and adopt AI tools to streamline workflows and increase team output Experience 5+ years of beauty or personal care product development experience Proven success launching products to retail market Strong understanding of packaging, formulas, claims, and supplier management Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Entrepreneurial mindset with strong taste level and speed of execution Haircare and skincare experience strongly preferred Experience with mass, natural, or off-price retail is a plus Why this Role High ownership and visibility across multiple growing brands Opportunity to create products that reach major retailers around the globe Direct impact on company growth and innovation pipeline Fast moving environment where strong ideas get executed quickly Clear path for advancement based on results
