CEI pursues a full-service approach to advancing public policy, which includes conducting original scholarly research, active communications campaigns, direct advocacy with policymakers, and litigation.About the RoleThe Competitive Enterprise Institute seeks a Digital Marketing Associate to play a central role in executing and strengthening CEI’s digital presence. This position will support the Director of Digital Marketing and the communications team to translate CEI’s policy work into clear, engaging content across social media, email, web, and paid campaigns. The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical, with strong writing skills and the ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish.This is a hands-on role with meaningful responsibility. You will help shape how CEI communicates its ideas to a national audience and contribute to major campaigns tied to current policy issues. Over time, this role will offer increasing ownership of digital campaigns and strategy, with the opportunity to take the lead on key initiatives as you grow in the role.We are looking for someone with 2+ years of experience who is ready to grow beyond purely execution-focused work. This role is based in CEI’s headquarters in Washington, DC.This position has a salary range of $55,000-$75,000, commensurate with the candidate’s experience.Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout employment. CEI does not provide visa sponsorship now or in the future for any position.Primary ResponsibilitiesDigital Content amp; DistributionManage and execute CEI’s daily social media presence across X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and InstagramSchedule and optimize content using Sprout SocialCollaborate with internal teams to translate policy work into engaging, platform-specific contentDraft and produce CEI’s weekly email newsletter, including staging and deployment in SalesforcePublish and manage content on CEI.org, including articles, press releases, and legal materialsSupport video and podcast production efforts as neededCampaigns amp; Audience GrowthSupport and execute digital campaigns across social, email, and paid media, with increasing ownership over timeManage and optimize paid advertising campaigns on Meta, X, and Google Ads, including testing, performance tracking, and ongoing optimizationContribute ideas to improve messaging, performance, and audience growth across platformsTrack and report on performance metrics, contributing to weekly analytics reportsQualifications2+ years of experience in digital marketing, communications, or content creationStrong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideasFamiliarity with social media platforms, email marketing, placing ads, and digital analyticsExperience or interest in paid digital advertising (Meta, Google, X)Experience with tools such as Sprout Social, Google Analytics, Salesforce, or similar platformsHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to travel up to 5%CharacteristicsYou will thrive in this role if you are:A strong communicator who can write clearly, quickly, and accuratelyDetail-oriented and take pride in high-quality workA self-starter who takes ownership and follows throughCurious and policy-minded, with an interest in public policy and communicationsAdaptable in a fast-moving environment with shifting prioritiesCollaborative, but comfortable working independentlyAligned – You are politically libertarian or conservative and can discuss your philosophical alignment with CEI’s mission and vision.
