Cloud Architect

Title: Cloud Architect / Infrastructure Hosting Location: Chicago, IL; *applicants must be local and able to work 3 days in office Type: Permanent / Full Time; we are only able to consider GC and USC status This is a senior, hands-on Cloud Architect role within the Infrastructure Services team, serving as the dedicated technical expert for hosting services. The position is responsible for shaping and governing a hybrid and multi-cloud strategy with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure. Year one will be split roughly 60% architecture/strategy and 40% hands-on execution. Responsibilities • Design, implement, and govern cloud infrastructure across Azure and hybrid (on-prem + cloud) environments • Define architecture standards, guardrails, and reusable patterns for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS workloads • Author and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Bicep templates) and lead DevOps-style automation • Reduce risk through RBAC design, network/firewall architecture, and compliance alignment • Optimize cloud spend through governance and rightsizing initiatives • Act as the primary cloud infrastructure partner for internal Data & AI teams • Mentor engineers, DevOps resources, and other architects across the team Requirements Must-Have: • 10+ years of experience with a strong, hands-on background in Microsoft Azure (IaaS and PaaS) • Proven experience authoring Infrastructure-as-Code at scale • Strong DevOps background with direct ownership of build and automation work • Bachelor's degree Preferred: • Kubernetes / AKS experience • Experience supporting Data & AI workloads • Background in financial services, regulated, or professional services environments
