Job Details
We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Assistant Director of Student Services to help oversee and coordinate our LEA-funded school-year and summer programs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in special education program management, knowledge of state and federal regulations, and a passion for improving student outcomes. The Assistant Director of Student Services will work closely with the Director of Student Services, Executive Director and staff to ensure the effective delivery of educational services to students with diverse needs. Tentative start date 7/1/26 (negotiable). This is a School Year Plus position (210 days). Valid licensure as a Special Education Administrator or Supervisor/Director from the MA Department of Education required. Benefits Eligible (Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurances, 457b/403b). This position qualifies for the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System (MTRS). Local travel between programs is required to support students at different school buildings. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Master’s Degree in Special Education or School Leadership.
Massachusetts DESE licensure as Special Education Administrator or Supervisor/Director.
Working knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations.
Demonstrated competency in oral and written communication skills.
Experience with specialized educational programs and program development.
Experience facilitating IEP team meetings.
Experience in supervision of educational personnel.
Working knowledge of MCAS and MCAS-Alt requirements and implementation. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Collaborative's LEA-funded school-year and summer programs.
Work with the Director of Student Services to evaluate all existing LEA-funded programs concerning curriculum, instruction, student outcomes, and staffing patterns/assignments.
Supervise and evaluate professional and support staff assigned to LEA-funded programs or providing ancillary services.
Implement and coordinate procedures for the referral, evaluation, acceptance, and placement of all students referred to the Collaborative’s school-age programs and services.
Oversee the IEP process, ensuring proper documentation and maintenance of student records for all LEA-funded students.
Ensure that SMEC program curriculums align with MA Curriculum Frameworks and best practices for the population served.
Ensure compliance with DESE guidelines and procedures related to MCAS testing.
Assist in the development of new programs and services, including program design, budget preparation, and staffing.
Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of new staff.
Contribute to the development, revision, implementation, and enforcement of Collaborative policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain communication with Administrators of Special Education and key school district personnel.
Monitor LEA-funded program expenditures, purchases, and inventory of classroom equipment, furnishings, and instructional materials.
Work with the Directors of the Collaborative's adult programs to facilitate smooth transitions for all Transitional Services students turning 22.
