Description
About the Role
Join a small, engineering-heavy team building the leading open-source LLM engineering platform — think "Datadog for AI applications." The platform helps teams trace, evaluate, and manage prompts across the full LLM development lifecycle, and is trusted by a large and rapidly growing base of developers at startups and Fortune 50 enterprises alike. The company recently joined forces with a major data infrastructure player, enabling it to move even faster on product while staying true to open-source and self-hosting.
As a Product Engineer on the Growth team, you'll own the full funnel — from top-of-funnel awareness through activation, adoption, and expansion — and have real latitude to run bold experiments that directly move the needle on growth.
What You'll Do
Analytics & data stack: Build and maintain the product analytics infrastructure (e.g. event tracking, BI tooling, columnar databases) to generate deep insights into user behavior and funnel performance.
Funnel mapping: Define and instrument core funnels for each product feature; make it easy for the team to monitor activation, adoption, and retention.
Experimentation: Design and run A/B tests and growth experiments — from onboarding flows to in-product nudges — to validate hypotheses and improve key metrics.
SDK & integration development: Develop and maintain client SDKs and integrations (multi-language, versioned, packaged) that reduce time-to-value for new users.
Self-serve & activation: Build in-product experiences, guided flows, and documentation hooks that help customers reach their "aha moment" faster with less hand-holding.
Feature adoption & expansion: Identify and act on opportunities to help customers expand from a single product area to the full platform offering.
Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product, design, marketing, and sales to align on priorities, communicate tradeoffs, and ship impactful work quickly.
Open-source community: Contribute to open-source workflows and engage with a vibrant developer community building cutting-edge AI applications.
What We're Looking For
Required
Based in the EU and able to work EU timezones; willing to be in the Berlin office approximately one week per month.
Legal authorization to work in the EU without employer sponsorship (no visa sponsorship available).
Hands-on experience building or integrating LLM-based applications — including prompt management, LLM evaluation, or observability for LLM systems.
Strong SQL skills and experience querying/analyzing product and usage data in analytical or columnar databases (ClickHouse or similar is a plus).
Experience instrumenting products for metrics and analytics: event tracking, tracing, and A/B experimentation to drive growth outcomes.
Experience developing and maintaining client SDKs or integrations — packaging, versioning, multi-language clients, and release management.
Proficiency with Git-based workflows, code review, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker).
Strong product sense and the ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable operating with high ownership and minimal supervision in a fast-moving, small team environment.
Nice to Have
Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects and community-driven development workflows.
Background at companies in the AI/ML tooling, developer infrastructure, or data observability space.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: €90,000 – €160,000 per year, depending on experience.
Equity participation in a high-growth, well-backed company.
Work with a focused, experienced, and highly collaborative engineering team.
Opportunity to shape the growth trajectory of one of the most widely adopted open-source AI platforms in the world.
Location
This is a hybrid role based in the EU, with a preference for candidates in or near Berlin, Germany. You'll be expected in the Berlin office approximately one week per month. Candidates across EU timezones (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, UK, Netherlands, France, Spain, Sweden, Poland, and similar) are welcome to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available.
