Description
Role Description The Senior Director of Operations is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing day-to-day operational performance across the venture-building portfolio. This role will design and implement scalable processes, systems, and best practices to support venture creation, launch, and growth. The Senior Director will lead cross-functional teams, manage operational roadmaps, and align resources to strategic priorities, ensuring effective delivery on key milestones. They will own budgeting and financial tracking for operations, including cost optimization, vendor management, and performance reporting. The role will also establish and monitor operational KPIs, analyze data to drive improvements, and partner closely with venture founders to ensure exceptional internal operations and customer experiences. In addition, the Senior Director will mentor operations staff, nurture a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and contribute to strategic planning at the leadership level.
Qualifications
Strong operations management capabilities, including experience designing and optimizing processes, implementing systems, and scaling operations in high-growth or startup environments.
Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, develop insights, build dashboards or reports, and make evidence-based recommendations.
Proven team management experience, including leading cross-functional teams, coaching senior individual contributors, and fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture.
Demonstrated budgeting and financial management skills, including forecasting, cost control, resource allocation, and reporting to executive stakeholders.
Experience building and maintaining high-quality customer service standards, focusing on reliability, responsiveness, and continuous service improvement.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels and work effectively in a fully remote setting.
Background in venture building, startups, or innovation-driven organizations is highly desirable; experience in the Australian market is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent advanced degree is advantageous.
Comfort with modern digital tools and platforms (e.g., project management, CRM, data analytics) and a strong inclination toward operational automation and efficiency.
